Hi there. Need advice on the Fort Wilderness cabins. I know I saw some interesting things on here regarding storage at while staying at the cabins. Mu sister and her husband rented 2 cabins for Thanksgiving. Since none of us have stayed there before, I need some advice from previous guests. They will be 6 adults and infant in one cabin and 4 adults and 4 children under 6 in the 2nd cabin. Since closet space is limited and there will be lots of stuff I noticed some people mentioned there may be some storage space on either side of the Murphy bed where they may use those pop up cubes for clothing; and they mentioned bring over the door shoe organizer to use in bathroom for all their stuff. All good ideas. Does anyone know if there is room for an under-bed canvas storage box as well? Any other tips would be helpful. Thanks.:flower3:

Storage is light in the cabin. We bought at the $1, closet hanging cubes, if you know what I mean. I put two in the closet in the bedroom for the kids clothes. Also we used hanging laundry bags for the bathroom, for dirty clothes. There is not much space under the beds at all. There are two big cabinets on either side of the murphy bed. The bedroom had four small drawers. Bring extra hangers too. But there isn't a rod in the hall closet only in the bedroom.

Just pack light and plan to do laundry. Buy drop-in at WalMart and bring quarters. We've stayed at all level resorts at WDW and so far, the ones at FW (2100 loop) comfort station have been the best. Wash and dry in one cycle each.

Also wanted to say, you may want to add another cabin. 6 adults in one cabin is going to be tough. I don't know who's going to get the top bunk, but it's pretty tight up there for an adult.

I would exchange the word tough to undesirable and then agree with every word.

If any of the adults are larger than normal in width or height they will find sharing the Murphy bed and the other full size beds less than enjoyable. I'm 6'3" and I've stayed on the Murphy bed on my own on two trips and it's the worst part of the trip. I can't imagine sharing with someone, there just isn't room. In fact I've decided I won't do that again as it's just not worth the back ache and poor night's sleep.

If they're going to upgrade the FW status to Moderate rates they should at least get decent beds. (Though fitting bigger beds could be challenging I suppose.)

Hi here are a couple of things we did for storage.

I think that my luggage was too big to fit under the bed. Or maybe there wasn't a space. We put our empty luggage under the Kitchen table bench. It was perfect. I also brought extra hangers to hang everything up. Even my sons stuff. We did use the cabinets by the murphy bed too.

The first time we had the cabins we had 4 adults. (well 2 adults and 2 teenagers). We didn't have a problem in the bathroom with space. But the living area was a mess. That is where the teenagers were. Who ever is out there must have a good plan.

The next time we come down, it will be for a week. And during the middle of the week, we will do laundry.

There is a thread on this forum about the cabins and it has some very good tips about storage and use. If I was computer smart I would find it for you.......maybe someone else will post a link.

I have slept in the bunk beds. They are hard and it is difficult to stretch your legs out. But really, you are at Disney and you probably wont sleep anyhow!!!!!!

Have fun

I would agree with it being a tight fit in both of your cabins (but especially in the one with 6 ad and 1 infant). Once you open the pack and play in there, there will be no space to walk at all. While it does "sleep 6" I agree with the pp that the bunk beds are on the small side. DH is 6' and he can't sleep on them. I'm 5'7" and really just barely seem to fit (they have footboards so they feel smaller than they are even).
If you can, really consider getting 1 more cabin. The additional cost may be worth actually liking the people you travelled with at the end of your vacation.

There is room under the bunks for underbed storage. Our roller carryons 18" fit there. We put other luggage under the kitchen bench. Bring an extra hanging organizer for the bedroom door and those 3M hooks to hang towels, raingear etc. A shoe organizer will keep shoes off the hallway floor. Storage is scarce to say the least. The dresser drawers in the bedroom are a joke. Socks and underwear. That's about it. We also used the top of the fridge. We put a lot of storage containers in the car to get them out of the way.
Hope this helps.
