Hi All,:goodvibes

We have tossed around the idea of staying at Fort Wilderness in the cabins. My mom needs to use a wheelchair when we are disney, her ticker isnt what it once was and all that walking is just to much. Anyway, is this resort ok for guest in wheelchairs?
It looks like my son would love it and we are planning to do HDDR and MBBBQ so thats 2 nights we would be there, and I know he would love the Chip and Dale campfire.
We dont need a handicap cabin as mom can walk, it just distance that she cant do, and I would hate to take a cabin away from someone that cant walk up the steps. But how is the bus or boat transportation for guest in wheelchairs? I mean I seen they have internal shuttles from point A to point B, so I was just wondering how that all worked?:confused3

Any pointers, hints and tips would be great! :thumbsup2

The internal buses are the same as the rest of the Disney fleet, they will accomodate 2 wheelchairs. There are paved paths for just about everything, I think the path to the campfire program may be mulch. The only problem would be the small boat to CR, but if you can fold the chair and mom can step down into the boat you should be ok with that too. If you will have a car, you can park infront of your cabin and drive your car to all the parks(you may still want to take the larger cruiser to MK anyway). Any other questions, just ask.

Oh Ok I get it! I was thinking a "little" bus like a shuttle type :rotfl:

I am thinking about getting my mom a scooter type chair this trip, so those wont work on the boats I am guessing?:confused3
Or just the boats to the CR and possible the WL? But the boat to Magic Kingdom would be ok, right? I know we took a boat from MK to the HDDR but we at the time had a push wheelchair.

Thank you so much for the help, I just like to have some idea before we get there! :goodvibes

The scooter should work fine on the MK, WL, FW boat, but you are right it will not work on the CR, WL, FW boat. On the very rare occasion that water levels will not allow ECVs on the MK boat you can take a bus from the Settlement stop to WL then board an MK bus from there.

Thank You So Much for the info!:grouphug:
