I haven't been to the Fort since summer '08, before the pool was refurbed.. Is it very crowded now? I mean, I remember there being people in the pool, but it was never very crowded.. I was just wondering if the new slide and all has brought a ton of people to the pool area. Thanks in advance!

Sometimes it is and sometimes it's not. We've gotten there and seen the crowds come and go while we were there. I think midday is probably the most crowded....since that's when it's the hottest. We've also seen people scatter over a little sprinkle of rain....guess they didn't wanna get wet! Go figure.

Ok thanks :goodvibes.. yeah, I just wasn't sure if the refurb had brought on huge crowds or not.. I guess it just depends what time you go down to the pool.. and what time of the year you're there..

You're welcome. I don't think the refurb made a huge difference. It was just a long time in coming. All the other resorts, including the value resorts, have great pools and the Fort deserved one too....especially since the closing of RC.

We were at the Fort in May and like others will agree, the weekends the pool gets pretty packed. In fact on A Saturday, you could see more heads in the pool than blue water. Our next trip is in August and we planned for the first time a Sunday through Sat. unlike our normal Thursday through Monday. We hope it should be quieter during the week. IMHO, I think since the addition of the slide, there is more pool hopping between the resorts and people taking the Disney buses from places like Port Orleans and the beach club. From time to time I will overhear people in chairs next to us telling someone how they took the bus or drove to the overflow parking to come and spend the day at the Forts pool. Personally I would love the idea of having to use your resort card to enter the pool area, just my thought

Ironically enough, the people from other resorts were the complainers if they suspected people from the Fort were at their pool.

To me, a pool is just a big concrete hole in the ground filled with water. If I'm hot, and it's not crowded, I jump in to cool off then get out. If it's crowded, it's just a giant toilet.

Thank you Jim for that happy thought.:scared1: I'm going to be there in 3 days and plan to spend a lot of time in the giant toliet.

One thing that helps with the crowds at the pool after the rehab is the pool is now about 3' deep all over so it does have more room for people to spread out and still be able to stand. At first I was bumbed that they did away with the deep end but with them not allowing diving there is really no need for deep water and by making the whole pool the same depth it effectively doubled the size of the pool.

Last week the pools were not overly crowded. They closed the pool a couple times due to lightning in the area, but the 'quiet pool' on our loop was still open. Actually no life guard there so we swam there for a while till the thunder and lightning actually got close. The storm was quite a ways North of the FW.

Also, we did take the boat over to the contemporary to swim since my kids wanted to go there. I did not realize it was not allowed? Seems like several people did it (that we saw the day prior and gave us the idea) and there were less people at that pool than FW.

Thanks for that info.. I didn't know they changed the actual pool completely.. I thought they just added a splash area and a slide.. I would assume that the constant depth would make the pool seem larger and less crowded..

I have actually seen people turn loose a couple of Baby Ruth bars in the pool, man that sure will clear out a pool quick!

Oh gosh, I hope those were Baby Ruths :scared1:

I hope you're not going to be there over the 4th of July... The pool area was invaded by a huge swarm of rude, loud, obnoxious, out-of-control people. (From listening to some of the conversations around me, I was able to determine that many of them lived locally and came to spend the day at the Fort pool.) The pool was so over-crowded that I was expecting the Health Dept. to close it down at any minute. People could barely move in the pool because there were so many people in it. It was NOT fun. Nor was it the "charming" 4th at the Fort I had envisioned. It was more like a day at an inner city pool.

I guess I am expecting it to be a zoo. I just wish they would do something to keep the locals from coming. They have upped our rates, so we are paying a lot to stay there and they are coming in for free!!!

I don't think "the local's" (which I would fall into that category) are just coming over for the pool and the pool alone. They are probably camping there as well and paying for their site just the same as everyone else. Us 'locals' like to camp too!

If FW feels that the pool is being misused they should check room keys or hand out wristband like other resorts (Daytona does this).

Personally the shallow depth is the reason my kids did not want to go to that pool and wanted to go to the contemporary instead. My 17, 16, 8, and 7 year old want more than 3ft water out of a pool.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the very end of Oct. and the very beginning of Nov. , the Fort pool is so frigg'n nasty it's like the cesspool of all cesspools and if I were you, I wouldn't go swimming it it during this time if my life depended on it.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

I didn't mean the locals that are camping (since I consider myself a local I only live 1 hr away and camp there often) I meant the ones that are just coming in for the dayand using the pool without camping there, as one of the other posters said he overheard. I have no problem with someone who is staying no matter where they are from, so don't take this the wrong way I didn't mean you.

Since I am so sharp and never miss a detail...:rotfl:......this makes me very suspicious, very suspicious indeed. Kinda makes me think someone who likes to fish will be there with a goofy camper! Hmmmmm......very curious.

Just in case I am mistaken, I'll put it on my calendar immediately.

That's what I heard about the end of September too. Must be something about the season... ;)

well me and my cousin (16 & 14) always ride our bikes up to the pool especially when it gets cloudy cause we are from florida and know most people scatter at that but even without the clouds it is actually not really that crowded. i was really shocked that the slide is actually simple but sooo much fun, it has a short wait, and when we would come in the evening more people seemed to be there than midday.

My sister (13) and I (15) were wondering if we could ride the slide (some places don't let you over a certain age) so it's nice to know that we can :) So thanks for confirming that! :thumbsup2
