The airfare is really cheap right now. Anyone recommend one over the other? Any hotel recommendations? Just looking for a quick getaway for DH and myself with no kids. Lots going on and we just need a quick break from the day to day stuff. We would probably go at the end of May.

If you go to Tampa you're only a couple of hours from WDW:earsboy:

My vote would be for Tampa, because I just love those Gulf coast beaches....beautiful sunsets.........wide range of accomodations right on the beach........anywhere from Clearwater down to St Pete, not far from the airport..........great area for a getaway......

My vote for Tampa (hey I live here!) I love the gulf beaches better than the Atlantic Ocean!

I've been to Ft. Lauderdale. Last fall as a matter of fact. Never been to Tampa. We really enjoyed Ft.Lauderdale. Stayed at the Marriott Harbour Beach Resort. Hotel located right on the ocean. You can see the cruise ships coming/going. Beautiful hotel. Only negative is you pay for parking $16.95 a day. Get an oceanview room. Nice views. We got a good rate for this hotel on priceline. It's the only "resort" hotel offered for this area.

When in doubt....always go Gulf side!
I love the Clearwater Beach Hotel...you would need a car however..don't know if you were planning on renting one. Also you are near Busch Gardens (if you don't want to make the approx. one hour drive to WDW!...we often fly into Tampa on our WDW visits).

My vote is for Ft. Lauderdale and I live in the Tampa area. Maybe that's why. I love the Ft. Lauderdale/Boca Raton area.

Is the Clearwater Beach Hotel directly on the water and are there other hotels you would recommend in the same area?

Thanks!

Another vote for Tampa. The Gulf side is much more relaxing than the Atlantic side. Go down to Longboat Key in the Sarasota area (about 45 minutes south of the Tampa Airport). You'll love it!
