We stayed at the Atlantic Resort and Spa hotel, could not recommend highly enough! Fort Lauderdale itself was not quite what I expected, but was a super base to visit other places. We went on the water taxi around the inter-costal waterways, whichever as interesting, looking at the huuuggge yachts and homes, went to the Everglades for an airboat ride, my boys went to Miami to see LA dodgers vs Miami Marlins, and visited several lovely malls too! The beach w as lovely, right across the street from the hotel. Had to drive anywhere to eat, but loads to choose from!

We stayed at the Pelican Grand Brach resort, which was wonderful. We were right on the beach and it was lovely to have breakfast in the terrace. It was also a great spot for turtle nests, which were all cordoned off so no one could disturb them. This was back in 2010 :)
