We crossed the border into Buffalo at 3:30ish in the afternoon on Canada Day. Line up was a couple of cars deep. Great.

Came back via the same bridge at 7:30ish and it was a line up of about 5 cars. Double Great!!!

I'm sure Queenston/Lewiston would have been pretty bad.

Doesn't make sense to use Fort Erie if you're going just to the Outlet Mall, but I can totally see the route making sense if you're hitting the Buffalo Airport. Probably a bit longer in kilometres, but totally worth the savings in border crossing time.

Love this board for tips like these!

During the summer months, the Rainbow bridge in Niagara Falls always seems busy as does Lewiston. Fort Erie isnt bad at all. In the Fall months, if the Bills are at home, its nuts.

Just crossed from the State to CA via the Fort Erie bridge and I was shocked that the guard never asked for our ID only asked where we were going and for how long. I watched 3 other cars in front of us and none of them showed ID. Man I could have been a wanted criminal and know one would have known I entered the country.

It could be because you were driving a car with USA license plates (the border guard assumed everyone was American). When I cross the border, with Ontario license plates, I am always asked for ID.
