Fort De Soto

Has anyone been to the beach here? We are doing a day trip to the ocean on the 15th of March, as we are heading to Tampa for a hockey game! (Leafs vs the Lightening, go Leafs!) so thought we would head out early and go to the beach for the day! We have thought of going here a few times, and have just never made it! We have done Clearwater, Treasure Island, and Cocoa beach, how does Fort De Soto compare, how far is it actually, and is it worth the drive? Also is there a shower house, or anything there, that we could get ready for the game at?

We went there in Sept. There was a shower house you could change in. I have not been to any of the other beaches you listed so I can't compare. I think it took us about 2 hours from Disney to get there.

We have been there...
It either Won Or came in close on Dr Beach Best Beach List a few years ago.

Do a web search for doctor beach

He writes a list evey year around Memorial Day for the best beaches.
He is on the travel channel every year.

Absolutely beautiful beach! Usually not crowded, at least not on weekdays.
