When you buy direct from Disney, what forms of payment will they take for the down-payment?

I would like to pay cash for my down-payment, but I definately do not want to carry that much cash with me on vacation.

I know they will take a credit card. If you have a CC that gives you rewards (airline miles, points, etc.), use that and pay off the balance when you return.

Incidentally, if you're living in Texas there is really no obligation to complete the purchase while at WDW. If you've researched DVC and are ready to buy, just start the process now. You can do it entirely through the mail.

On the other hand, if you are taking the tour / meeting with a Guide and are just reasonably certain you'll go forward, don't buy while at WDW. Listed to the Guide, ask questions, and then when you return come here to re-confirm everything that you were told.

Just my $.02...

I used my Disney Visa, and charged 10% down and then paid it after the rewards were applied.
You don't have to wait until you get there to buy. Of course, take the tour first if you like. But you don't need to carry all that cash with you there. When I bought, I called and the wonderful guide spent about 2 hours on the phone with me answering all my questions, and deciding then that it was the right decision for me, I charged it right over the phone with her. I had thought on several trips of taking the tour, but I was afraid they'd be pressuring to buy, but what from what I read here on other posts, they don't pressure you at all!

We wrote a check. They took it - no problem.

One of the main reasons we haven't started the paperwork yet is because my DW and I would like to really see SSR before we committ 50 years to it.

Being able to write a check sounds great. We will probably go that route.

Thanks for the feedback.
