Hmm, Alcohol and Fireworks... Yup Darwin hard at work.

This wasn't the "good" Gaston was it? (The really "cocky" one who throws in all kinds of movie lines and does it very well.) Doesn't look like the from the video that was posted yahoo, but can't tell for sure.

Was nobody there sober enough to be able to say, "Dude, don't do THAT!" ?

Need everyone's opinion on whether this is same Gaston who died. I believe it is not as I'm certain more than one guy plays the part. I say this one pictured w my son & GF is shorter & has less chest hair than Devon. They were there in May last year but I truly believe this guy is not him.
May Devon be at peace.

Picture is below....thanks

yes? no?
Less chest hair...I think so

My husband and i were there in May of this year and I believe that the friend of Gaston above is who we met. We have done several photo comparisons and do not believe this friend is the same. May Devon rest in peace and prayers for his family.

Devon worked in WDW Jan - June 2014 according to what I have read.

That is very sad, but, I mean, What does one expect to happen when you stick a small bomb on your head and light it? Alcohol and explosives are a bad combo. I can't imagine what his friends are going through. seeing someone blow their head off will leave you with some serious PTSD. As an RN, I've seen the aftermath of these sort of things, it's not something you can get out of your head.

This exactly. I feel for the family and friends, I honestly do. But with that being said, sometimes you really have to just call on common sense. But I also wonder why nobody with him tried to stop it.

It's sad and I am sorry for him and his family, but Fireworks (and anything explosive in general) are NOT toys and should be handled with due caution. Just like you never point a gun loaded or otherwise at something unless you are planning on shooting. Why, because if you didn't expect it to go off and it does, it's tragic, just like this is.

I can hear the outcry now about how Fireworks should be banned. No they shouldn't be banned. They should only be used responsibly and definitely without alcohol involved (at least by the users, not necessarily the spectators).

Cant quite tell if this is the guy we met last Oct. He was a funny guy and played the part well. Sad either way. RIP dude!

One of the more recent articles I saw today said that apparently the fireworks mortar was aimed at his head and not away from it.
