Former Disney CEO Ron Miller has passed away

Such sad news. Ron pushed hard to diversify Disney outside of their comfort zone of just making films for family audiences and catering to them, and of course resulted in many great products such as Tron and Epcot, as well as taking the Disney Parks to an international level, overseeing the construction and completion of Tokyo Disneyland. Although Tron was Ron's biggest gamble, which resulted in losses that very nearly brought down the Disney Company, Ron laid the foundations that his successor Michael Eisner would later build upon, and resulted in the Disney empire as we know them today.

As much as some think that Ron very nearly spelt the end of Disney with the Tron gamble, Ron still had a vision, and he did his best to realise it despite the circumstances, and of course resulted in a huge legacy that still lives on today in the creation of the Home Video department, Touchstone Pictures (and later, Disney-labeled PG films), the Disney Channel, and of course, both Epcot and the first ever international Disney Park.

Rest in peace, Ron.

RIP to a great man, I hope Mr. Iger and future Disney leaders take a look at Mr. MillersM playbook.
