Forgot you could actually buy stuff in person

We live in a cul de sac and are very good friends with many of our neighbors and I couldn't tell you half of what you apparently know about your neighbors.
That is kind of what a neighborhood is to me. Lifetime friendships. People next door moved 10 years ago after being neighbors for 32 years, we still have lunch with them every other month. A neighborhood is a bond that doesn't end when being a neighbor ends.

Dead end street with an active Neighborhood Watch program. My neighbors know my routines too.

EDIT: And one of the few houses on my street without security cameras that are recording 24/7. I'm a dinosaur. My e-mail is full of videos from my neighbors cameras every time a homeless person walks down the street at 3 am, or something out of the ordinary.

It really does depend on how houses are situated, right? Ours now is basically closed off at the front, with most window exposure at the back, facing a canyon, but we've had homes with big picture windows street-side and just walking around our house we'd see stuff going on in the neighborhood.

I think I like the picture-window houses better. They're more social. And the pets and kids sure do, too. They like watching the world go by.

In our case we don't have a gardener so we spend time in the front yard. This time of year we are out before it gets too hot racking up leaves from our Magnolia tree. Who knew an evergreen tree loses a ton of leaves in summer? And there is a steady stream of neighbors walking their dogs from 6 to 8 am and 6 to 8 pm. Once couple had been walking their two whippets for years and we would chat as they came by. Sadly, both dogs are gone now but they still walk by and they live 45 blocks from us.

Too funny, hubby and I were just telling each other about what was due to be delivered in the next day or two. I have two things coming from Amazon and he has something coming from one of the offices where he works. We must get at least two Amazon deliveries a week. I did check all the local websites for what I ordered to see if I could get it for less and nope. We did go to Best Buy just last week because he wanted a tablet to take with him when he is away from home. He works from home but needs to be available 24/7 (IT Security Director) and it is too difficult to do some things with his phone. He needed to touch and see what he wanted. I always buy my laptops and phones locally, I need to type on the keyboard and just can get a better deal for my phone locally. We never get our groceries delivered, I would do it every once in awhile but hubby thinks they sub too many things. We don't have any other kind of food delivery where we live, we are in the country. Hubby needed some funeral clothes a few days ago and we looked locally (on line) but he ended up ordering from Amazon. We also do all our Lowe's/Home Depot type shopping in person. We do all our appliance shopping in person as well, with the exception of coffee pots, we just keep buying the same model we have when it breaks.
