Forget it - not worth the effort

I would have been really upset. To think after all the training she went through to blurt that out! :confused3

last night I was out to dinner was talking to the waitress who has a 4 yo she just took to Disney and when they were meeting Aurora she heard Aurora say - loud enough that even her daugher heard it

"I need a smoke" - she said she was appalled and her daughter said - "what does that mean" - she just shook it off -

I can't tell you how fast my butt would have been at guest services - that is totally unacceptable - I hope someone else in the area went to complain!!!
To be honest I wouldn't believe her story. Characters are never allowed to be "out-of-character" while on stage. Doing so means they will be immediately terminated.

I also find that hard to believe. I know the training is very extensive. Who did she supposedly say that to?

Was she sure it was Aurora? Sounds more like something Cruella would say in character.

Oh my gosh , I am so sorry to hear that...... I agree I would have been to guest services in a heartbeat!WHat was she thinking????!! :confused3

We saw the Cinderella at Akershus out of character for a few moments on our trip while talking to a group of waitresses. They are human, I guess it happens, but they should really be careful that at least there are no children around. Cinderella didn't say anything offensive she just wasn't talking in her princess voice and was talking about mundane things.

She said she was talking with some people she appeared to know - she was pretty clear that it was Aurora - I don't know why she would lie to me about the story - what does she gain by making up a story to me? She was telling me how their trip had been disappointing and that was an example she gave me.
You would be surprised what some people will do.

Because 5 years later, the 9 inch trout I caught became a 100 pound swordfish.

I really don't believe that either. We just got back and every single character we met was wonderful. We went to the Princess Room in Toontown and they were so great. They were so in character!

I really don't believe it either. It's a pretty coveted thing to be one of the princesses and something tells me that a slip like that wouldn't happen. They are very aware of what they are doing and saying.

People will lie for no reason at all except to get attention. Even attention that gains pity or something is reason enough to bring up a lie. You may believe she had no reason to lie to you, but why exactly do you think you have reason to trust everything she says?

Well, I suppose it could have happened, but it also just as plausible that Aurora said something else and was misunderstood. After all, how may folks thought "take off and go" from Aladdin said "take off your clothes"? If she was concerned, the OPs friend should have reported it.

The few CMs I know do have some habits that aren't exactly Disney-like, but they also love their jobs and respect the magic enough to follow the rules :earsboy:

You should hear some of the "interpatations" my dd (5) comes up with. The other day my friend called me while I was in the shower and asked if I wanted to go out to lunch to a place called "Rolling in the Dough". My dd yelled in the shower " Michelle wants to know if you want to go to bowling with the ho!!"

I would take what the waitress said with a grain of salt. I don't think Aroura would comprimise her position by saying she needed a smoke.

Maybe she said....."My shoe just broke" or "I need a coke"

I am honestly just stunned by the people who find this unbelievable! A few years ago we were having breakfast at 'Ohana and the characters (Minnie Mouse in particular) were TOTALLY out of character!!! They were chasing each other wildly and TALKING! Masked characters are not SUPPOSED to talk. I was shocked but never really thought of reporting it... Go ahead--doubt my integrity now...

I agree! I can't believe some of the posters practically calling the waitress a lier.

Everyone's human and isn't perfect and Disney isnt perfect either. Although it isn't common, characters can certainly be out of character from time to time. If it happens and if it bothers you, report them.

I believe it's possible. I think it's insulting to doubt the truth of the OP's story, IMHO.

I'm shocked people don't beleive it as well! Yes, possibly, your friend could have lied. And Disney does set its standards high and expect the cast members to follow thoses standards and rules....But there ARE people who do break rules.
There is usually one bad apple in the bunch.

Now I do agree it is very out of character for her to have said, for a younger child who "looks up" to these characters, it would (especially to me) be a disappointment to hear them say that, but I do beleive it could have happened.

Just my 2 cents!

It always interests me how comments and stories can be stretched and exaggerated as time goes on. Sort of like that old "telephone" game where you whisper "Tommy is wearing a yellow shirt" into the first person's ear and after the tenth person repeats it the phrase becomes "Julia shot a worried yak" :teeth: Not saying this happened in this case, just that I am always cautious to believe something unless I was the person involved. (and in this case the story I would be getting the story 4th hand so to speak)

I think the worst "out of character" moment came when Santa at our mall recognized my father as a buddy from work and started talking to him about the solid rocket boosters and how he loved working at NASA!
