Foreign notary public

Im International (Europe) and
thinking about selling one of my contracts.

Due to the COVID-19 the US embassy in my country have suspended all notarial services.

We have our own Notary public who can notaries documents however I dont know if their work will be recognized by companies etc in the US?

I read about the RON (remote online notarization) however it does not seem that the closing companies that dvcresalemarket.com are using will allow it. I even have an ITIN number for me previous sale so I would assume the process online should be hassle free.

Any other thoughts about how I can get the deed notarized if I sell?

I just touched on this in another thread. I don’t know anything about Europe, but you could try getting the contract notorized and then send it to your department of foreign affairs for an apostille. This should be enough to legalize the document.

That’s Remote Online Notarization. Some states in the US allows it. From what I can find FL do.

I just touched on this in another thread. I don’t know anything about Europe, but you could try getting the contract notorized and then send it to your department of foreign affairs for an apostille. This should be enough to legalize the document.

So if I understand you correctly I use my country’s own Notary public and then afterwards make an appointment with the department of foreign affairs for an Apostle?

Yes. That what I did to legalize a closing contract for Hawaii to recognize the Australian notary.

after reading about it, it seems that I don’t need to go to the notary public but straight to the department of foreign affairs. Is that correct or do I still need to get it notarized before getting the apostille?

I Learned all this from title company First American. I was told by them I would need to Notarize the document. My local solicitor said that the notary may not be recognized until the document was made legal by an apostille. We couldn’t get an appointment, so we elected to mail the document. I’m not sure if I could have used the department of foreign affairs as the notary.

I think it differs from country to country but here in Denmark they have still suspended the notary functions.
