Forbidden Journey - can you just go through the queue without riding?

My dh and I are going to IOA and will see WWOHP for the first time. Dh has SEVERE motion sickness and hasn't found any remedy to help him. He can't do any simulator rides and rollercoasters generally make him sick, but sometimes he pushes through and does them anyway. ;) Therefore, I don't think he would be able to do Forbidden Journey. However, is there any way he could join me in the queue to see all the theming, but then cut out just before the ride? I guess it would be like a chicken exit, but in his case, he just doesn't want to be sick! ;) Thanks for any info!

There is a tour you can take of the castle which will get you through most of the rooms displays. I think you miss a few things by taking the tour.

You could do the single rider line and get on the ride relatively fast so he does not have to wait long for you.

I am not sure if he could go through the whole line with you and then chicken out. (I know right by the place where you board is the child swap area. Maybe he can wait there for you?)

Sure he could. Do you think the TMs there actually force you into the ride vehicle? ;) There is no attraction in the world where you are forced to ride.

Otherwise, Seeker has it right. You can either both go through the slower-moving main queue and see the entire queue, or go through the no-wait, go-at-your-own-pace Castle Tour queue and see most of the same stuff. In the CT queue you would miss the greenhouse, the entrance to the castle, the Phoenix staircase entrance to Dumbledore's office, and would go through a different portrait room than that in the main queue.

haha You have a point! ;) They wouldn't actually FORCE him to ride, but I'm just wondering if there's a discreet way for him to leave. He wants to see the queue so I think he'd do that instead of the tour since he wants to see as much as possible. Thanks for the replies!

When you get to the loading area where the TM asks you how many in your party, just tell them you're riding and he's not. They may direct him through the child-swap room and back out to the stairs beyond. Shouldn't be a problem.

There is if you consider the IRS an "attraction."

I remember some speculation when FJ was new that the castle tour queue would turn into Universal Express at some point. Is that still in the cards?

I remember this too. Who knows if or when that will actually happen....

We went through the castle tour line once and I thought we saw Dombledore's office. In fact, you get a better view because you are in front of the others.
Unless we were on the single riders line.

No, the single riders' line doesn't go through Dumbledore's office. You were in the castle tour line.

That is what I thought.
I must still be dizzy from the ride itself, and that was six months ago.
Don't like those simulators especially that one, I bet it has had its share of tossed cookies.

The "private" portrait gallery that you get in the CT queue is, in my opinion, much preferable to the gallery in the regular queue. You can stay long enough in the private gallery to hear everything that the talking portraits say...and they do say quite a bit. My recollection is that the main queue shuffled off to the next room before we had a chance to hear everything. (And on top of that, the noise level made it difficult to hear anyway.) I suppose you could try to remain stationary in the main queue while listening to the portraits, but doing so might attract the attention of a TM.

The portraits are the best part. I thought the CT tour area was smaller though I do remeber there being a lot of portrtaits and interactions.
