For you that Drive?

We also drive (from the Peoria area). In the hundred or so trips down and back I can honestly say there is not a "must do" place to stop and eat. We are in such a hurry to get there that we just drive thru and eat in the car. :yay: On the way home we are too bummed to stop and eat. :sad1:

Enjoy your trip!!!!!

We travel a good part of our trip from Southeast Missouri on I-24 to I-75, then the I-475 by-pass then back onto I-75. Like DizBub we also drive thru and eat in the car most of the way. The kids love to picnic at the NickaJack rest stop which is outside of Chattanooga on the lake created by the TVA. We have stopped at some nondescript Mom and Pop eateries with mixed results. It is fun to explore and have these experiences outside of the fast-food world.

Our driving tradition, when we have time, is to pack a cooler and stop at the Parthenon, the Old World's Fair Park, I think it is called Centennial Park, in Nashville. It is located really close to Vanderbilt University and has a full size replica of the Parthenon in Greece. We tour the museum, there is a fee and eat our lunch outside.

It's a little over 2 hours from the Macon exit to I 95. What you're essentially doing is going out of your way east after which you'll have to angle back west on I 4 to WDW.

I almost don't care if we go out of the way a bit to avoid that 2 lane construcion stuff The last time we were on this was last summer do you know if it is still like that?
