Ive just taken the DVC tour...after having read the boards inside and out, but now Im very curious about the Poly. I had read some negative things about the Poly on a different board so it left a bad taste in my mouth. But now it seems to me, after reading a recent thread, that the Poly (even though it is older) has great views and convenient transportation.

Can you walk from the Poly to the TTC? I just visited there recently, and it seems like the Poly was close to TTC,but I couldnt quite tell how long the walk would be vs taking the monorail from the front entrance. I did like the theming, but I only ventured into the lobbby and the stores. Oh, and of course, the bar at Ohanas :) What is the GCH for? Shows? And what is the fastest way to get to my favorite park EPCOT, & best way to get to MGM?

Thanks for any info...Im off to try and find Tikiman's website :)

You can definitley walk to the TTC from the Polynesian. We stayed in the Tahiti building and walked right over. IT was less than a 3 minute walk. Then you just hop the Epcot monorail and off you go. The GCH - Great Ceremonial House - is where the resaurants and shops are located. This is also where the 24 dining spot is and where you can refill your mugs. Tahiti has some amazing views of the castle and Seven Seas lagoon. THe beaches are beautiful - day and night - and watching fireworks from a hammock or your balcony is so magical! The only thing I didn't LOVE about the Polynesian was the room decor. However, that would not stop me from staying there again. The rooms are very roomy with ceiling fans, a day bed, two queen beds and a table and chairs. The bathrooms are decorated with green marble which I loved. Overall, I think the Polynesian is tops for its location and proximity to Epcot and MK. For the other parks you take a bus. The bus is shared by the Wilderness Lodge and the Grand Floridian. But the Polyneisian is 2nd to be picked up and 2nd to be dropped off. It's not bad at all. Plus the bus stop at MGM is right in front of the entrance.

I would recommend the Polynesian to anyone. I cannot wait to stay there again some day. But I have to try all the other resorts, first!!!!!!

Oh, my DH and I also LOVE the restaurants and the Polynesian. O'hana and Kona Cafe are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try the Polynesian......you'll love it!!!!!!!!!

If I remember correctly, certain buildings are closer to the TTC, but I don't know which ones. One thing we did love about the Poly was Kona Cafe. They had really good food.

Hi! The Polynesian is indeed great. I especially love the grounds with all the hibiscus flowers everywhere.

And as for walking to the TTC, the length of time does depend on the building you stay in. If you are in a more westerly building, a better idea would be to walk to the GCH and get on the monorail there. But I'm kind of a walker; I'd be inclined to walk from the Polynesian to the MK's front gates. Walking around the Seven Seas Lagoon is very pleasant if it isn't too hot. There doesn't seem to be too much shade.:sunny:

Also, the age of the Polynesian doesn't matter much to me. It's only 30 years old; some of the finest, most famous hotels in the world are much, much older. Mostly you want to know when the last refurbishing was done on the rooms!

*sorry about the double post!*:jester:

Thanks to you all for your help and info:) Seems Ill be trying the Poly next year before the cruise,,,,,btw, I thought about getting my daughter a GOH pin with her name in Hawaiian, but when I looked at Tikimans site and found out that Mary=Male LOL (probably pronounced MAH-LEE) Dont think she would wear that with the Hawaiian translation :)
Thanks again

If you were actually wondering, "Male" in Hawaiian is pronounced "MAH-lay". An "i" in Hawaiian is pronounced "ee".

Just a little trivial info!:D

Laura, re: '"Walk from the Polynesian to the MK's front gates."
Can you do this??????
I understood that you could walk from Poly to GF but that was it.
Is it possible to walk all the way around the lagoon???

There is no way to walk from the Polyesian to the MK. There is no path that goes all the way around the lagoon. It'd be nice if there were, though!!!!!

Whoops! It's the Contemporary that has a path to MK! I had it backwards in my head.

Wishful thinking:rolleyes:
