Hello Dis Friends! :goodvibes I have a couple of quick questions and was hoping someone might know the answer to them!

1. I looked at all the rental companies listed, and all show pictures (even on the heavy duty type scooters) that only have the three wheels. I love :lovestruc the WDW ECV's that you can rent, the manuever well, are comfy, seem stable, have a bit more leg extending room (which is better on my knees) ect... I have used three wheeled ECV's several times and just don't feel as stable or comfortable on them. Do you know of any rental companies that rent ones similar to what WDW has?

2. If I am lucky enough to find a company that does, will a four wheeled ECV fit on the WDW transportation (buses and monorail)?

We hoped to get one for length of stay (as opposed to parks only) so I didn't have to take the manual wheelchair everywhere (around our resort, to DTD, and to visit other resorts). I am hoping to find one to rent similar to WDW, as they worked wonderful for me!

TIA:flower3:

I think that the only ones that are rented with four wheels are heavy duty ones, which cost more. Usually the larger three wheel ones have anti-tip wheels on them. And the four wheel ones will fit on the Disney Transporation.

Check Buena Vista Scooter Rental, I believe I saw that they have a 4 wheeled one on their site and I believe Walker's has them now too. I am a rather large pooh sized woman and have had no trouble with the 3 wheeled versions. I think I had a 4 wheeled one on our first trip and I didn't like it, but I won't recommend that place to anybody.

We had a problem with one of own four wheel scooters, my dh found the spaces on the buses extremely tight to manuever (and he is a pro at parking them!) and we had checked max size with Disney before leaving. The biggest problem was that several of the lift style buses had repaired the bottom step and shortened the platform so he did not fit. We had to wait for several buses because he didn't want to risk getting stuck. I think the max length was 48 inches, but you should make sure if you do use a four wheeler.

::yes::
According to the WDW Guidebooks for Guests with Disabilities, the standard lift size is 32 inches wide by 48 inches long. The newer buses have ramps instead of lifts, which makes it easier to get into the bus.

It was a heavy duty one from scootaround. It did not fit on the lifft busses. Was a complete disaster! Be Careful!! I am going in a couple of weeks and rented a Dream scooter. It is larger and a 3 wheeler but the front wheel turns so it will fit on a lift. Supposedly!! I will report on it and send pictures asap!!
