The Murphy bed in the living room of the one bedroom looks a bit small. Has anyone here slept on it, or can give me a comparison to a twin bed?

Also, was it comfortable, and can the mattress be lifted off and placed on the floor? Thanks all..

A friend we had invited along chose to use the Murphy bed and we all decided it was not meant for an adult. She had to pull her knees up a little or else her feet would hang over the edge. I think it is more suited for someone who is either quite short or hasn't reached their full height yet.

On the other side, she said that the bed was quite comfortable. I don't recall if it could be lifted off the bed and placed on the floor.

My DBIL stayed on the Murphy bed..he's about 5"9" and did have to pull his legs up if he didn't want his feet to hang over, but he said it was fine and he slept well.

We were just there two weeks ago and I tried the murphy bed. It was perfect for me, at 5'2" and 135 lbs. I thought it comfortable, though I didn't sleep on it all night. Definitely better than your average pull out couch in terms of mattress quality and comfort. And it is perfect for kids. Anyone much taller or wider might be less comfortable. It isn't super narrow or anything, but you just might feel awkward on it if you have a wider body type. We didn't try to put in on the floor, so I am not sure if it is attached.

Thanks all! This certainly gives me a good idea of what we can do here.

I think I will be going for the 2 bedroom villa. :)
