Anyone have any tips on some places to eat/things to do in Nashville Tn??? My girlfriends and I are taking a long weekend girls trip at the end of July to celebrate all of our impending 40th bdays! Thanks in advance...

I went last yr. and I had a blast.. not being a huge country music fan, I was nervous but my friends talked me into it and I can't wait to go back.

I highly recommend "tootsies tours", opry mills mall, the ryman, grand ole opry (all touristy things)

We were there in April.

We didn't really do the Grand Ole Opry or anything country music related because I didn't think my kids would like it.

We did the Duck Tour, the General Jackson showboat, and just hung out on Broadway.

We also ate at Monelle's and BB Kings and highly recommend both.

Orpy mills is currently under construction due to the recent flood. The same is true for the Gaylord Hotel.

Downtown should be okay. Hard Rock cafe is good. Plus you can walk up and down the streets and listen to music and check out some of the bars. Most have bands playing.

If you like to shop, you can go to all the little boutiques on 21st/Hillsboro Village.
Do you watch Top Chef? Well, Arnold Myint's restaurants are here. On Belmont is PM Nashville and Cha Cha, on Church is Suzy Wong's House of Yum.

Don't forge to line up in the AM and go to the Pancake Pantry. Lots of stars have gone there. Last time there, Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner were there too. And it's great food!!!

I second the Pancake Pantry.

If you like music, a great place to go is the Blue Bird Cafe. Its not it downtown Nashville and looks like a little hole in the wall but many singers and songwriters got their start they. They have a website. They often have "songwriters in the round" performances which are awesome. Saw Janice Ian there last year. Its tricky to get reservations to some of the more popular performances though. You need to log on right when they start.

Believe it or not, the Parthenon is a beautiful place to visit, not very expensive and in a pretty park.

A bit of a drive away is the Loveless Cafe which use to be part of an old motel. The rooms of the motel have been turned into shops. They have a website as well.

If you like flowers, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens are beautiful.

And it you want to try something hilarious and a little bit risque at times, there is a tour "The NashTrash" tour this is given in a pink school bus with "make your own hors doeuvers". (Think cheese in a can and ritz crackers). The two ladies who do the tour do improve and engage the participants. and yes, they have a website. They fill up in advance too.

Wild Stallion Saloon often has free line dancing lessons and sometimes have certificates on restaurant.com. Hope that helps. (love love Nashville, cant you tell?)

I second the Loveless Cafe. Great food.

Also, if you like Barbeque, Jack's on Broadway is the best!

Love strolling the streets downtown listening to the live music and love to eat at the restaurants with outside dining or open windows to soak in the atmosphere.

Last trip with hubby, we stayed downtown and really enjoyed walking everywhere. It has been a while. We were in town to see INXS at the Ryman.

My last trip, I was there for a friend's wedding, but was still able to make it to downtown for a little bit.

Have fun!
