did you worry about the sound of the fireworks? We will be having several little kids and I am worried that the sound will be to much for them.

We are having a welcome dinner at either GF marina or Sago so I don't want to do a dessert party there.

I am wondering if I should provide ear plugs or something for the little kids.

We're doing our rehearsal dinner at Italy Isola during Illuminations. We have several munchkins coming (from six months to 13 yo) and I'm not too terribly concerned. You may want to let the parents know that there are fireworks involved so they can be prepared in the event their kids startle easily. Otherwise, I don't think it's that loud that you'd need to provide earplugs.

It's very thoughtful of you to consider them!

We had a few little kids at our cocktail hour (Italy Isola during Illuminations) and never even thought to think about the kids getting scared.
We were standing on the bridge right as Illuminations started and the minute the first firework went off we heard an ear piercing scream. Yep. It was our ring bearer. He calmed down after that though.
If you are thinking about it, you might want to warn the parents, but I think that they'll deal.

We had nine kids at our Epcot DP and only one of them had a problem with the noise. He stayed with his Mom and cried a bit, but he eventually started to enjoy the fireworks.

One thing that really helped was having the Mickey glasses that they sometimes hand out for the fireworks. I would ask your planner to make sure you have these, because they were a huge hit - even with the adults! (Just in case you don't know what I'm talking about they are disposable 3D type glasses that make the fireworks look like Mickeys! They are very cool!) :thumbsup2

I have never heard of this! Do you have any more info? Was there a cost to get them? Did you arrange them through your planner?

Sounds really neat...I'd love more info if you could share it!

thanks!

They did not charge us for them, and they were a complete surprise!! I had actually never seen them before. The Epcot people who were taking care of us during the party brought them out for all of our guests. I'm not sure if they do this every time, so if I were to do it again I would make sure to request it with my planner. Hopefully she can fill you in! :)

Those are terrific suggestions the ear plugs & Mickey Glasses. I was kind of worried about his too since all the kids at ours will be 5 & under. I wish my sister thought of something like that for her welcome BBQ as it was on the 4th of July and fireworks were a given, and our son and my sister's other nephew were present (only 1 & 2 years old). You may luck out and some little ones may pass out and sleep through fireworks if it's been a long & tiring day for them that the noise might not bother hem. It may seem odd for me to say that when you're paying for your guests to enjoy your DP and fireworks with you, but that's exactly what happened to our little one. We had some family think he was deaf and were worried he didn't get startled at all by he noise, but some little ones can fall a sleep during them. I would have some ear plugs on hand if you think it will be a concern. It will save some parents the worry o their little one needing to go for a hearing test like we had to do with our DS after his 1st Fireworks experience.
