I have an IPod mini and have had all kinds of problems with it. I sent it back to apple to get it fixed, can anyone tell me an approximate amount of time that they keep them?

My DH had to send his video ipod back and they sent us a new one within 5 days. It was super fast.

He's having trouble again and I think we may have to send this one back, as well.

I'm not sure what they will do in your situation but I think you will get it back fairly quickly.

Good luck. :thumbsup2

Not to be the naysayer here, but if you read up on the subject, Apple's core competency is product development and marketing, not service. I know a number of Ipod owners with serious horror stories about the latter.

I don't think I'm getting a new one. They are just supposed to fix the one that I had. It's been skipping songs forever, and I took it to the store that I bought it at and even though I bought the extended 3 year warranty they said that there was nothing they could do to fix it. So finally it crashed and wouldn't turn back on at all, so they sent it back to apple. I think apple has to try to fix it 3 times or something before I could get it replaced, so who knows.

When DH sent his powerbook in for service with Apple he had it back two days after he sent it in. Not the same as an iPod, but I have always been impressed with the service we have gotten from Apple, both in the store and when we had to send the computer in.

Where did you buy it?

Does it display the sad ipod icon when you try to use it?

I'm not sure why Best Buy couldn't do anything.

All I did was call Apple and they sent a prepaid box by DHL. It could not have been easier.

I did buy ours from the Apple Store online.

I would call Apple yourself.

You can go on their website for the number to call.

*knock wood* I haven't had any problems with my ipod mini but several of my friends and my DP have had their's stop working and Apple has always fixed or replaced them within 2 days. My work computer is an Apple iBook and it needed repairing and Apple sent a prepaid box and it was back in my hands 2 days later too. I disagree that Apple doesn't have good service.

If your hard drive in the iPod failed they will send you a new, but it's a refurbished one. Sooo, that means it will be all shiny, scratch fee but actually used. When I sent my iPod to Apple it was back in 5 days in rural Missouri. I sure loved opening the box and marveling at a scratchless iPod.

Just a word of warning, the iPod (full sized ones) is about to be replaced, so rumours say, with a full screen iPod that is slimmer and features touch screen functionality. There are also rumours that iTunes will soon feature films to download at rates lower than the current market.

[EDIT]: Oh, and they're rumoured to have bluetooth functionality.

I never did get a sad icon. It would just skip songs, to where I couldn't listen to anything. And finally it got to where you couldn't turn it on at all. One of my friend's friends did that and got it replaced with a new nano because supposidly there is a different type of drive in the nanos than the minis and that is why they no longer make the minis. I don't know how she got that though, because that definately doesn't seem like that is what is going to happen with me. Which is fine, I already have all of the mini accessories, I just hope it doesn't take too long.
