For those with granite countertops...

Tell me about your granite countertops. I just picked out mine on Thursday. I picked a sink on Friday. I need to pick out my tile for the backsplash and a faucet. I picked out Uronga Gold, from Africa. It's different, I wanted different. Anyway, what do you have, what backsplash do you have? Yeah, I'm looking for ideas!

(For the person on the previous thread who said that African granite has bugs and pestiside, no need to post, saw it, thanks! )

We have gray and black speckled granite. We bought the squares and did it ourselves. We could not afford a solid piece because our counters are quite big.

Nevertheless I amn not one to match things so I used some wood where there was no threat of water for a backing and where there was water and the back of the stove we used tin ceiling tiles.

The specked granite shows no marks at all. I have a friend who has black granite solid and she says it shows EVERYTHING. I guess the lighter color and the fact that there is a pattern hides a lot. Good thing because I'm not a clean freak.

[The Mystery Machine]

We bought a spec house with granite. I love it. I don't know what kind but it has grey, black, with splashes of pink and lots of dark flecks.

The backsplash is some kind of stone tile. Very neutral in color. Matches anything.

Sink is stainless, Ok I guess, but it is the oversized/deep sink and I do love that.

We have Mohen facets throughout the house.

We put in granite counters last summer when we remodeled out kitchen. We have Venetian Green (a little lighter than UbaTuba). I still don't have a backsplash yet though. I guess I ran out of ideas and steam when the remodel was complete. I'll get to it eventually.

We had granite put in 2 years ago and love it! Its sort a brown, black tanish speckled looking one..I think it was called Light Venezia (sp?)...the backsplash is porcelain and it matches the porcelain floor we had put in.

Two weeks ago, we had Thomasville's Camden cherry cabinets installed. We're eagerly awaiting our Indian Premium Black granite. They tell us it will be installed the end of this week! Yay!! We bought the Price Pfister Marielle faucet. Sink is sort've a matte black. Can't wait to get it installed. Being sink'less is making me craaaazy! We wanted to go with the full granite backsplash, but the check I would've had to write on that one, changed my mind. We're going with the basic 4" backsplash then plan to tile from there.
