Aren't you just so glad you spent the big bucks instead of one of those cheap dolls from Target or wherever? I am thrilled! Thrilled, thrilled. This doll is such high quality. I really had no idea. I knew the hair was an improvement, but the arm and leg joints blew me away. I had ordered the doll-- a Girl of Today, that may I say looks so much like DD it is freaky--at pretty much the last minute as I had been hemming and hawing about it. Had it delivered to a friend's house which was a good move because when DD saw the wrapped box under the tree she said "I think I know what that is." (She was so cute though, she left it til her last gift and didn't even ask if she could open that one yet.) So, I didn't even see the doll until last night. Wow, what totally superior quality. Now I get it!

Frighteningly, I think I have become an addict! :rotfl:

I got DD "Samantha", and after much hemhawing, I am so glad I got it. I agree, its a great doll (although I've been at work all day and haven't gotten my hands on it "out of the box" yet). She is absolutely in love with it. Her birthday is mid Jan and I'm seriously considering getting "Elizabeth" for her.

DD has a "Just like Me" doll that does look just like her but she also has an Our Generation Doll from Target and she loves them both. I can see the difference in quality, especially in the hair but she doesn't and is happy that "Flower" the name of her AG doll has "Alicia" for a friend. And really, the Our Gen doll clothes and accessories are so much less expensive and fit both dolls.

Glad your daughter liked hers!

Our daughters loved theirs!

I was surprised about the strings on the neck though--what exactly do I do with those. I'm thinking tempting toys for my very industrious girls.

We got Josefina and Biddy Baby. We are in New Mexico right now--so Josefina was ordered for that reason.

I can't wait for Molly to be old enough to get...........Molly!

I just love that she shares the name with one of them AND that my Molly was born when her daddy was off at war, and the stories of AG Molly, her dad is off at war! Too cool! (Well, not cool that my DH is gone, but you know what I mean!).

HOW many days will you see dh?

What do you think his reaction will be to the changes/work done in/on the house?

Love, love, love it. DD's 8th birthday was on the 16th and she got her first, Felicity. Much to her suprise Santa gave her Elizabeth. She now has the bathtub and lots of clothes and Licore and Coconut. My DD 4 got a bitty baby and bed, highchair, stroller and lots of clothes. They both love them. These may be the best gifts I've ever got them. They are so beautiful! BTW, DD 8 doesn't even (and never has) liked dolls all that much. We are now planning a trip to the AG store in July.

The jerk who promised me all the work done (thru the radio promo) never did it!   Never returned my phone calls after I gave him the paint samples I wanted, nothing. :confused3 I got in touch with the radio station, and they apologized profusely and said they would put me on again, and I never heard from them either. Whatever, I'm over it. We have done some simple sprucing and such; I doubt Dh will care what things look like, just that he's HOME.

Thanks for asking though! :goodvibes

Well, mark me down for the very first American Girl doll too!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got one for my daugther, 7, cuz so many of her girlfriends have one.

It was her last gift to open this morning and SHE LOVES IT.

Comtemplated over the Today doll (to look like my girl) for the Generation doll---- I went with Kirsten, the one from the Prairie days cuz we're big fans of Little House.

Yes, I agree, it's a GREAT AND HIGH quality doll. My girl loves to play with dolls -- Bratz and this one, American Girl -- perhaps next year, I'll get the doll that's a SPITTING IMAGE OF HER.

That's SO MUCH FOR THE TIP from the Target dolls clothes! Yeah!

My DD9 got Felicity and Coconut the dog today. She was expecting them because they were on her list but the look on her face when she opened it was priceless :lovestruc The dolls truly are beautiful. My DD12 got Kit for Christmas 3 years ago.

DD7 got her 3rd and 4th AG dolls (Elizabeth from Santa and Felicity from my MIL) and several clothes and 3 matching outfits for her to wear. I found a Build A Bear wardrobe on clearance for $10 at Target last week and got that for her to put the AG clothes in. She already had Josefina and Kirsten and has taken excellent care of them so we didnt hesitate to spend the money on 2 more. Oops I mean SANTA and GRANDMA didnt hesitate...

Fortunately Grandma feeds DD's AG habit. She has both sets of Bitty Twins, the blonde and brunette, Molly, Kit, and two of the limited edition ones and I can't remember their names. She has the dogs, cats, horses, beds, clothes, you name it because Grandma loves to buy her the stuff. She does play with them all the time, so that is nice, too. Her play room off her bedroom is AG heaven. She didn't get any new dolls this year but got 4 outfits from Grandma.

DD (22) got Samantha (who looks like her) when she was 8, and many of her accessories for the next two years for Christmas and birthdays. Samantha and her tea party set are still set up in her old bedroom; the rest of the clothes, furniture, etc have been stored away for any future granddaughters.

I agree. They are very expensive, but once you see them "in person" you know that the quality far surpasses other dolls on the market, and will truly become heirlooms.

I feel the opposite as everybody here. My DD asked for an AG doll when she turned 8. I didn't think she'd play with it enough to make it worth the expense so we went with the Target brand first. We agreed that she'd get an AG later, if she really played with the Target one. Sure enough, she LOVED it,* for a couple of weeks.* I would have been really upset if we'd spent the money on an AG! Thank goodness we went to Target instead.

I know lots of little girls that really love their AG's, so I do understand where ya'll are coming from.

My DD would not have played with the Target doll either. She is not a doll person, neither am I, nor was I as a child. But there is just "something" about the AG Dolls. It is like comparing Six Flags to WDW! These dolls are the most special gifts I feel I have ever given to my DDs. Just my opinion, but nothing can beat them!

We gave our dd (8) her first one this morning. She got Marisol after asking for an AG doll for the past 2 yrs! I really hope she takes care of it. She was thrilled and I hope the thrill lasts.

We havent bit the AG doll bullet yet. My niece (14 years old) had one and we took it over to see how DD (4 years old) likes it. She isn't too interested (but then again we made it clear it was her cousins and she could play with it, but it wasn't hers to keep. So she might not be interested just for that reason. Even so I am waiting until she is older.

However I got a truck load of the AG angalena ballerina dolls things and exseories for DD this year (on clearance for a great price thanks to a hint on the budget board, thanks whoever posted that! )

I love the quality of these, they are so great. So much attention to detail. Now I am hooked and want to ger her more and they are discontinued. I got the stage exsesories and no stage. Now I am stuck. Don't want to pay through the nose on ebay and am considering DH making once close to it (a friend has it so we can copy the size.)

Any other ideas on where to find more of the AG Angelna cothes and such with out doing ebay? I really want to get her Poly since she has a little sister (she had Alice and Henry now in addtion to Angelna.

DD got the Bitty Twins and all the stuff to go with them today. The stroller is so cute! I bought them a whole wardrobe too.

Santa brought American Girls for my DD's this year. My almost 6 yr old got Kit and licorice. My 7 1/2 yr old got Nellie and Coconut. They also both got doll stands (with instructions that the doll is to be played with, in it's box or on it's stand.) We already have the blonde Bitty Baby Twins.

We did not get any accesories yet. The dolls took a BIG chunk of the girls' gift budget. I may look for some less expensive (target) stuff and/or some American Girl items for their birthdays. I also would LOVE to take the girls to the American Girl Store.

I think American Girl Dolls are beautiful (and I'm not a doll person) and very well made. I also love the books and I hope my girls get into the history/stories behind the dolls. My nieces (ages range from 12-18) got so much out of their AG Dolls.
