We are wondering what "specials" anyone got when they traveled to WDW last December. According to an earlier post, free dining was not offered last year. Does anyone remember what, if any, deals were out from 12/1 thru 12/17??? We were really hoping to go during the above dates, however, if there are no specials, maybe we need to change. Thanks! Janice

December is a very popular time to go. WDW has no incentive to give any promotion to fill rooms, when they are already filled. I wouldn't count on it at all. However, for September and because it is hurricane season, there is alot of incentive to try to fill the resorts. Disney only releases promotions when they need to fill rooms.

we used a code and almost 400 of our opackage
it only cost us 1500 to styat pop for 7 nights with dining
2 adults
2 kids

There was a small discount available but I can't remember if it was a package or room only.

Don't expect deep discounts though as n2mm said it is a very popular time to go.

Thanks for the insite. We have always went the first 2 weeks of Dec. and found very little crowds. It always seemed to pick up the last couple of days of our stay, which is alot closer to Xmas. We love the decorations, so may pass the free dining up(must be something wrong w/us!!), and hope for a annual passholder discount. Janice

We have always been able to get AP discounts for our trips in December. This will be our 11th year to go then, but we do travel from mid December through Christmas Day and usually leave on the 26th or 27th. That being said, we have never not gotten a discount.

Last December they had the BRP (AP) available for most of the month. We have been going to WDW each Dec.(1st half) since 1992 and have gotten a good room discount each year except the first couple of years. We didn't get discounts the first two years because we didn't know about them. The discounts have been AP, Jolly Holliday or just general codes.

We are going from Dec. 7th - 16th this year and are using the AAA room-only discount. It's a 15% savings off the price of the room (we're staying in a deluxe, if you are looking to stay in a value or a moderate you can get 20% off the room rate with AAA) :thumbsup2

If you're looking for a package, AAA also offers packages where the room portion would be the 15% (or 20%) off.

Good luck!

I, too, have seen over the past 5 years (and gotten it when I wanted them) AP discounts from just after THanksgiving until a bit before Christmas. You might need to be a little flexible on resorts and views, but odds are excellent that there will be an AP discount, and very good that you'll get a room using it.

I believe the discount for value is not 20%, but 10% for AAA members. We booked this for our last trip, and definitely didn't save 20% off our rack rate at Pop. You should check with Disney before budgeting with this figure. ~Ev

Confusion... you started by saying you could always get a discount, and ended by saying you never got a discount. Huh?!?! :confused3

I said we have never NOT gotten a discount... kind of confusing, but I think that means we always have gotten one... :goodvibes

I think you better read again they said they have never NOT gotten a discount :teeth: It is worded a little weird lol.

double negitive = a positive in grammer any way
As long as we're correcting things, it's spelled grammar ;)

However, thanks to all THREE of you for the clarification. Yes, I read PNO4TE's post too quickly. :rotfl: BTW, love the "piano play" in your screen name!

Thanks! Not everyone "gets" it... I am a piano teacher so my DH came up with the "pianoforte" screen name for me years ago. Now I would like to get it as my license plate too!

It depends on what season you are starting your stay in. Right now, we're booked in value saeson as Poly and saving 15%. A mod or value would have been 20%.

That is correct.

20% off values and moderates during value seaon
15% off deluxe

15% off values and moderates during regular and peak season
10% off deluxe

No discounts during holiday season.

Thanks for the info! We've never travelled during the value season with the AAA discount, as other offers usually prove more beneficial to us during that time (like the upcoming free dining offer)... but it's good to have the info to "tuck away" for the future! ~ Ev :)

katyeka,
Youare correct - all sources (and my own experience) says that the first 2 weeks of Dec (which was the op dates in question) are the slowest times of the year, second only to January.

Hence, my trip dates this year
