For those who use Ziploc bags on vacation...

Does one brand work better than the other? I was just at the dollar store and I saw some boxes of 'no name' resealable bags. I just wondered if anyone's tried them and do they work as good as the brand name ones? (Holding clothes, not leaking, etc)

I used Target brand on our last trip and they worked great! I choose the "freezer" bags because they are made of a more durable plastic...but as long as you know they are closed (they don't have the green/yellow=blue seal) they've worked wonderful! The worst you can do is buy a box - open them and find out they are junk - at least all you wasted was $1!

I tried grocery store brand (not freezer) and they did NOT work well. They didn't keep the seal well so the air would get back in. I wasn't just the money I spent on the bags it was all the time I spent packing. I thought they were working but within an hour or so I saw they just weren't working as well. I buy Ziplock brand or Glad at BJ's.

Thanks, everyone. I guess it's true for Ziploc bags, too. You get what you pay for!

Always use TARGET store brand-and never had a problem with everything from a trip to Disney to school lunch money.

I've used both ziploc and the Acme bring 2 gallon freezer bags and I really couldn't tell the difference. Both kept the air out and that's really all you need to be concerned about when packing.

I just finished packing the kids clothes in the ziploc (Acme brand) bags the other day. We're good to go!

I've tried several generic brands and was usually disappointed. I stick with wither name-brand or Target (which work great!). I use them not only for clothes for travel but for everyday things, as well. Keeping everything dry going to the pool, beach, and boat; keeping extra clothes in the car for the kids; keeping little things organized on for day trips; and carrying liquids (like sunscreen) that I don't want getting all over my other things in my bag.
