how was the service?
I originally booked with DCL and just transferred my reservation yesterday to AAA.....via the internet.

I was curious to know about making payments....would they rather have a lump sum at the end, do they take monthly/weekly payments? I loved the conveinence of the DCL website for making payments on our last cruise.

Will I still be eligible for the AAA drink mugs since I only transferred my reservation to them?

also - any upgrades after being assigned a cabin?

We were fortunate enough to be upgraded from a cat 11 to a cat 9 this past cruise which led us to book a cat 9 for December. I am hoping pixie dust will sprinkle our way....I would love to have a balcony for our anniversary cruise!

We have always booked directly with AAA and this time we are making monthly payments with no problems. Ask you TA about the mugs, I would imagine you would still get them. We have always gotten them, no problem.

:D

We originally booked thru DCL and then transferred our ressie to AAA and had no problems getting the mugs :drinking1 (and a nice discount on our cruise price). :teeth:

Just want to throw a small caution flag!! I also booked thru AAA and they have dropped the ball on a few (minor) things. First they never sent me an excursion brochure until I called and ask for it. Secondly, they had told me I could cancel the DCL transfers I had with their package and be reimbursed the cost so that I could book my own towncar service. After I made the reservation with FL Tours towncar service, AAA informed me I could not be reimbursed because the transfers held "no dollar value" (what ever that means!?!?). So I had to cancel the towncar because I could not justify paying double. Lastly, I just spoke with DCL to see where my docs were and when they would be send out. The CM told me with a group sell package like AAA, everyones docs will be sent out all together to the AAA and then AAA would send them out to each cruiser. However someone in the group has experienced some type of problem (she could not go into any detail) and all of AAA docs are being held up until the problem is resolved. I voiced my concerns to the DCL CM and she said don't worry my doc are all cleared and if worse came to worse I could get them when I arrive in FL!! WHAT??!!?? I don't want to wait!!! I feel like I am being penalized for someone elses problem!! I know it's not DCL's fault, and it really isn't AAA's fault. I guess that's just one of the things that can happen when you go with group sells! I have learned my lesson... Saving a few $$ is not worth the hassle!!

Please, don't think I hate AAA. I've been a member there for over 28 years and I will remain a member. Just from now on, I'll be a little wiser about booking a package tour with them.

We used AAA and use the same TA there we have used for the last 10 to 15 years. The only problem we have is with management at our office, not our TA. When I booked 3 cabins for our extended family, we received our docs before anyone else (about 30 days out) because we did not book air thru disney like the other two cabins (they got theirs about 15 days ot). If AAA says they can not give you the mugs, just threaten to transfer your ressies to someone else and see how fast they change their tune. - Mike

We booked with AAA for our upcoming July cruise and I am very happy with the service and prices we received. I have e-mail our agent several times with questions and have gotten quick responses.

We booked thru AAA last year and ended up cancelling the DCL transfers. We used Happy's Limo instead. We got a credit for the transfers that were canceled. I think the cost of the transfers were $49 pp. I would ask the TA at AAA to double check on that for you.

PS Our AAA TA told us that AAA wasn't doing the mugs anymore, WRONG! The mug voucher was in the the docs when they came. We transferred the res. to DU this time.

Luckily we live in Florida so we don't need transfers....

I did call about the mug and he said it would be in our vouchers and that we would redeem onboard.....

so I saved $452 on the cruise and another $70 on the mugs (aren't they $35 for the week?)

so yeah!
I just hope AAA gives me the kind of service that DCL did........(is that wishful thinking)

informed me I could not be reimbursed because the transfers held "no dollar value" (what ever that means!?!?).

DCL provides complimentary transfers for their guests who book air through them. In those cases, they don't have a specific dollar value that can be deducted if you decline to use them.

I was going to book through AAA for our October cruise, but they could not match the offer I had through vacations to go. I guess I will have to pay for my mug, At least I am saving money on my cruise.

No problems here yet! They even matched Sam's Club price which saved us about $100 per room!

Emails are quick to respond from my TA there!
