For those who travel/or will travel with babies ! HELP !!!

This will be our first trip with an infant. Our daughter will be 8mo when we go and I starting to realize I will have a LOT to take with me. We will be using the new Magical Express so will not have a car to make a grocery stop. For those of you who have done this before, how did you get the baby food, diapers, formula , ect to the resort with you ? I thought about packing in the suitcase but the way they throw those bags around the baby food would be all over the inside of the suitcase when we get there !! YIKES !!

Also since we are taking the Magical Express does that mean I do not need to take her car seat ? She is riding in ourlaps on the plane and also on the bus ?!

Hi Lori, we took our twins to WDW when they were 7 mos old, so I have a pretty good idea what you're going through right now! We mailed a box to our resort about a week before our arrival date, thanks to the advice by many people on these boards. I pre-called my resort to get the exact mailing address. We also wrote on the label to "hold for resort guest (our names), date of arrival ________."

We used USPS and mailed about 1 week before our arrival date. Our box was at the front desk each time we checked in.

The reason we didn't consider using a grocery service in FL was because we had certain brand names that we wanted to take from home. We didn't want to risk using a different kind of wipes, diapers, formula, or whatever while away from home on vacation.

It was very handy packing the box because once that stuff was shipped, all I had to worry about was packing the clothing and diaper bag(s).

We did not need our carseat at all when our babies were that age. We used bjorn carriers to secure our babies to us on the airplane and on the magical express (mears) shuttle.

We always send a box down with wipes, diapers, formula, bottles, bottle bags, pre-soaped dish sponges (to wash bottles) toys, food, etc. I find it is easier and cheaper. I dont worry about it. We call a few days ahead to make sure it arrived and they hold it until we arrive. Remember to use bottled water for the formula as Dr said it may upset baby to "change" waters. I also heard but an not sure if it is true that FL water has quite a bit of sulpher in it what could cause baby to have colic......who knows.

We used www.WeGoShop.com on our last trip, and they were great. Just go on the site and click the Lake Buena Vista location. You can send them your shopping list and then they will deliver it right to you at the resort just after you get there. A wonderful service and nice people.

Just wanted to offer my support. I've been flyingalone with DD since she was tiny - we flew back and forth from Tokyo to Philadelphia several times when she was 8 months to 2 years old! It's very doable with a little planning.

In this case, I would go with mailign a package or using someone like wegoshop.com to deliver to the hotel. As long as you can afford it, it seems like a lot less stress. Well, as long as everything gets there, which it really should.

If there are certain breakable things, like babyfood jars, that you need with you and would have trouble replacing on very short notice if the package didn't show up on time, I'd go ahead and pack them. I always did that and never had a broken jar. Put each one in a ziploc, then wrap it in an item of clothing - treat the clothing as if it were bubble wrap. Clothes are bulky enough to provide plenty of cushion between jars. The ziplocs are really only necessary if TSA opens your bag and doesn't re-wrap the jars. I pack breakables this way all the time and have never once had breakage.

Another possibility is if a babyfood brand you like comes in those new plastic containers. I'd still pack them as above, but it would eliminate the worry of glass shards just in case of breakage.

We are traveling with a 9 month old in less then 2 weeks. However since we are also going to Vero Beach this trip we will have a car.

What I did when my oldest DD was 9 months old was pack baby food jars in some round rubbermaid containers. On the way home I just put socks and other small cothes in it to take up less room. (or small breakables wraped in socks.)

Remember bring what you might need, but in repects to not over packing, many things CAN be bought there, inculding baby food (for about 10 cents more a can, not bad really.)

If baby uses pacifer bring your own and back ups, they might not sell the kind your use. We love the tether to clip to baby so it doesn't hit the floor.

We LOVE www.wegoshop.com. We've used them on our last 4 trips and they are amazing. We have them shop at the Wal-Mart Super Center, since we are familiar with their brands and prices. They bring every thing right to your door. We've used them for lots of food and for diapers/wipes. We never used them for formula since our little one is breastfed, but I'm sure the Wal-Mart carries all the big national brands. You can suggest the exact size, brand, etc. of everything you want. I highly suggest giving www.wegoshop.com a try. I really can't say enough about how pleased we are with them! In fact, on our trip this summer, we will have a car and we are still using them since the delivery rate is very cheap and it keeps us from wasting valuable vacation time in a grocery store or Wal-Mart!

May I also suggest using A Baby's Best Friend? They have many different baby items(cribs,exersaucers,rocking chairs,etc) that you may want but are hard to travel with. I used them last year for a refrigerator and microwave and they were great. This year we are going to get some toys and a microwave from them. I know a lot of people on the Dis use them. Have fun! We also used abbf.com for a crib and wegoshop.com for diapers, wipes, baby soap, baby food, snacks for our 2 older kids,----quite a bit!!!

I loved not having to haul the stuff AND not having to spend my vacation time at Walmart.
