We're going to get the iPad2 this afternoon, but I'm not sure if I should get the Smart Cover or something that is a front/ back cover like I've got on my Nook.... for those of you that have the iPad2, what cover do you like?

I don't really want something bulky, so I thought the Smart Cover was awesome...my DH is concerned that the back will get scratched up....
I would appreciate any help! thank you!!! :goodvibes

Here's my take on a protective case for the iPad.
i had the magnetic front cover that apple sells for about $70. It was very nice, but I didn't feel it was very protective.

I now have the Gumdrop case. it looks like a truck tire. It does make the pad a little heavier and bulkier. But this iPad is really protected! When my friend's 5 year old dropped her iPad on the ground and the screen shattered and her AppleCare wouldn't cover it and she had to either buy a new iPad or put it through her homeowners ins....I was sold on protecting that thing at any cost!
I am very happy with this case, and my 8 year old has dropped it many times and not a scratch/dent/ nothing!

Good luck.

Some covers turn the iPad off when you close them. Decide if you want that feature, and then choose accordingly.

I have the roocase. I bought it on amazon for $25 ish. It does put the iPad in sleep mode when you close the case. It also wraps around the iPad to make a stand for viewing movies and tv shows which I do ALL the time.

Enjoy! You are going to love your iPad!!

Dh has the griffin (sp) survivor case. Great protection not too bulky.

I started with the magnetic cover/sleeve that Apple makes. It was okay, but I didn't feel it provided enough protection considering I sometimes have my iPad in a messenger bag or carry on. I got this case at Best Buy and I love it:

It's the Targus rotating case - it's slim enough that the iPad doesn't feel bulky, but it provides protection if my iPad is in a bag. Also, I think it's easier that the Apple cover for propping up the iPad to watch a movie or read a book.

I have a Targus that I bought at Target...not bulky at all and completely protects m ipad2

I use one of the $39 smart covers and a Belkin snap shield on the case. It adds barely any bulk. I toss my iPad in my handbag often and use it many hours each day. I've been using my iPad in its current case configuration since last April.

The smart cover still looks like new.

The snap shield (got mine at Best Buy) has seen better days, corners are cracking (known problem with these cases). I just love how it adds little weight and bulk and I hope that Belkin has maybe improved these shields since they were first released.

We have a Trident case on this one and we have been happy with it so far. I think it was about 50.00. I also looked at the Otterbox brand.

I had a smart cover and after two weeks trashed it. I bought a cute cover from a kiosk in the mall for $10 and it works perfectly!!

I have the Otterbox Defender on mine. It does add a little bulk but I love it and it is very protected. I got it as a gift for Christmas but I believe they run about $90.

I had the SwitchEasy Canvas until yesterday. It is a really good case that really protects the Ipad all around (including plugs for the ports). However, it did add bulk.

I picked up a new black leather Smart cover on Ebay for $5 and just got it yesterday. Am I glad I did. Adds virtually no bulk to the iPad.

Today I'm going to order a custom printed back from Gelaskins and then will hit $5 Below for a cheap neoprene case. When I take it out of the case there will be virtually no bulk to the iPad but it will have rear scratch protection as well as a sleak front.

Definitely get a case which protects the back and front. I have a SwitchEasy case as well and have been happy with it. I don't think it adds a lot of bulk. It has the magnetic front and you can also use it as a stand.

Smart cover with a snap on back and a Coach iPad pouch that it all slides into. No problems at all.

I thought about the smart cover, but a friend of mine said it wasn't worth it to her, so I bought one of the Vera Bradley cases for it, it's quilted so it protects a little better and if I recall it was less than the smart cover, and I will probably buy something else when we go to Disney in June, they had some really cute cases and covers.

I have the Smart Cover and I LOVE it for everyday use. I also picked up a cheap "leather" case that opens like a book for $5.00 at Five Below. I put the iPad in this case for protection when I am going to be tossing it in my tote bag, etc. I will likely upgrade this case at some point, but for now the $5.00 case works fine for this purpose. But for everyday, at-home use I would highly recommend the Smart Cover.

The problem with the smart cover is that is provides no protection to the back. You then have to buy two items to protect your iPad. I still think buying one item is cheaper and makes more sense. Plus, a cover such as the one I previously suggested, has a built in stand which can be adjusted at several different angles.

I have the Griffin Intellicase for the iPad 2 --- google it and you will find it.

I got mine at Target in November and I feel that it is GREAT!

It has the magnetic cover to turn the device off and a hard shell back to protect it.

It looks just like the Apple product and a FRACTION of the cost!

Only possible downside is that I could only find it in black.

Ohhhhh... and it protects VERY well..... On day 2 of owning it husband accidentley "slid" the iPad off the side of the bed - dented the wood bed rail but the iPad was perfect. It could have been disastorous as the dent the case left in the rail surely would have affected the iPad had it not been in the case and THAT is not covered by the warranty.

I bought mine when it was the only game in town, then added the snap on back later. I use a charging dock and you can't have ANYTHING on the iPad to sit it in there to charge. Personally I font care for the stands, none of the preset angles are that great IMO.
