how has the construction noise been?

we are staying there next month and booked std view rooms...I sure hope we get a nice quiet room...;)

We wanted to check-in early for our DTD view room, and there wasn't anything available yet (this was at 10 am, we'd been up since 3 am), at noon I called and spoke to a nice CM (Joshua) who once I told him I'd been up since 3, he said he would find me a room... well, he found me a 3rd floor theme-park view room, and was very worried because it was in a corner where we would see (and supposedly hear construction)...

It was a great room... yes, if I stood on the balcony and looked to the right I could see the construction... and it was pretty close by... but straight ahead was Grizzly Peak... so it was a great view... no noise could be heard with the door shut... we came back for naps every day and weren't bothered at all... Of course they don't work at night or on Sundays (I was told) so I doubt you'd notice a thing!

I didn't hear a thing. Third floor..I guess kinda DTD view..but it was standard. I could kind of see the fireworks, so it was toward DTD side.

Thanks so much for the info. We are going in August and I was a little worried about staying at the GCH because of the construction. I wonder what it is like at the pool? :confused3

DD and I napped at the pool on a Wednesday afternoon (three weeks ago now)--needed to check out and needed a nap... you can use the pool on your check out day... so we went out the the very comfortable loungers at 1 pm, grabbed some towels to use as blankets and crashed out in the shade (the right side of the pool gets the afternoon shade) under an umbrella for 2 hours... heard nothing but the occasional towel cart being rolled by.

Just to clarify for those who have not yet stayed there...DTD view is kitty corner to where the construction is. If you could see any construction you either had a theme park (DCA), pool or standard (over the front desk) view. If you paid for and want a DTD view, they are on the opposite side facing DL and DTD. Also, a lot of times the standard room faces the monorail and courtyard. It is very quiet and pretty. I much prefer to see action from my balcony, I like DTD or pool view.:) Have a great trip.

we actually booked a std view for a quieter room. we have stayed in the DTD view twice and felt it was a little noisy at night....bands, etc.
we are light sleepers and dont' care about the view. ;)

Stayed theme park view (could also see the pool) - and we could see the construction very clearly (which I liked it was kind of interesting). But those balcony doors are amazing! The moment you close them any noise from the park and construction was totally gone.
