For those who have ordered from Zenni Optical

I was wondering if you got the anti-reflective coating and what you thought of it? I've been trying to find reviews and it seems like the coating might not be so hot.

Thanks in advance! I really need glasses, but can't afford to go to a retail shop right now, so cheapies online are my only option.

I don't know anything about that particular site, but before I got into real estate, I was an optician and I ran an optical lab. I would skip a cheapie AR coating. Only the expensive ones seem to "stick" because they are embedded into the layers of the lens with a hard coat over the top, so they don;t scratch as easily. The cheap ones sit on top. That's why they get all cloudy and appear scratched. it dooesn't take much to have the cheap ones flake off.

Nothing wrong with cheaper glasses for the most part...but I would skip the AR. Just my 2 cents.

We just got 3 pairs of Zenni glasses last week, and I have purchased at least 5 in the past 2 years. We always get the AR coat, and I haven't had any issues with it. Just to compare, we dropped 300 bucks on "good" pair in an optical shop and I am not impressed with that AR. It is smeary and requires a lot of wiping - the Zenni's do not. I also used to work for optometrists who had an optical shop, and I think the AR is relatively good quality.

I recently got a pair with AR for my DS. No problems. I'm glad I got it for him. In fact, he liked the glasses so much (as did I) that I ordered another pair exactly like it as a back up!

I bought a pair of glasses with all the extras like no line bifocals, AR, light lens, etc... from Sears and paid $300. In one year I had to take them back 3 times to be re-done because the coating peeled off in places and I couldn't see.
I have a pair of Zenni glasses on now that I bought for $58 with no line bifocals, AR and magnetic clip on sun glasses. They are almost a year old and they are not scratched or peeling at all.
I am due for another eye exam and I will be buying a pair from Zenni again.

I was curious, so in my experimental purchase, I bought 2 pairs with and one pair without. I can TOTALLY tell a difference, and much prefer the pairs with AR. Get it! It's worth the extra couple of dollars.
