For those who have had swine flu please share your symptoms

I too have been under the weather but nothing too severe. No cough, fever or body aches. I had a sore throat for about two days and a stuffy nose but that seems to be going away. Did call the Dr on friday since I was worried about the swine flu and he said since I am not in the "at risk" category to just wait it out but if I still felt bad or got worse to come in at the begining of the week.

Thanks for all the info--I wanted to know what to look for. Altho...some wishful thinking here...a few weeks ago all 3 DSs had sore throats, low grade fevers, stomach aches within a few days of each other. It lasted a few days. Maybe we've had it already.

My DS11 had a bout of it two weeks ago. He started with a low grade fever on a Tuesday night, with a stomach ache and headache. The fever got a little higher the next morning, and the other symptoms were still present. After taking a nap in the afternoon, he spiked a 104.2 fever, so I took him to the ped who diagnosed H1N1 after testing. He also said he had a little trouble breathing. (She said she couldn't officially call it that because the CDC requires the testing be done in a hospital to officially say it's swine flue. But she said that was what it was.) So she gave us a script for Tamiflu, which had to be compounded because there was no liquid at any of the pharmacies. DS took one dose and immediately threw it up because it tasted so awful-maybe because of the way it was made. So...we settled for Tylenol and Motrin to keep the fever at bay. The symptoms stuck around until Sunday, when he felt much better.

So symptoms were: High fever, loss of appetite, headache, tummy ache, difficulty breathing, and lethargy. for 5 days.

I hope everyone feels better soon.
Sounds just like my dd13. She also had a lot of congestion and coughing.

According to my kids' pediatrician, my entire family probably had it (based on symptoms alone, it is so common in my area they no longer test for it). Dh had a terrible cough (that lasted 3 weeks), fever, headache, and sore throat. My youngest two children had fevers, sore throats, headache, cough (ds also had two ear infections and dd vomited). My oldest dd had a headache and sore throat, but no fever. Her headache and sore throat is gone, but she is still coughing. My symptoms included headache, sore throat, nausea, and cough (but no fever).

My ds was in bed for four days with it and probably had it the worst. Dh spent a couple of days in bed and passed out getting out of the shower on one day. The girls in our family never got it that bad. I have had seasonal flu a couple of times over the last few years and felt much worse (body aches, etc) with that flu then this. I will be getting my seasonal flu shot within the next week.

One thing that the Dr. told us was that we would still need to get the H1N1 shot when it came out, even if we had that type of flu already. According to her, the virus could mutate and you could get it again. I plan on my family getting the seasonal flu shot this week and then we will get the H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available.

People that I know that were swabbed and confirmed to have A strain flu had one thing in common. They all started with a headache that was bad enough to complain about. That's all though the rest of their symptoms varied greatly. The whole flu with no fever makes it difficult to comprehend and makes so many question if its actually flu or not. So many around here speculate that they have/had H1N1 but they arent testing so who knows.:confused3

I hope everyone starts feeling better quickly.

I beleive our family was hit with H1N1, but in spite of going to the Dr. I can't verify it. Here's what happened to us:

First DD got sick with lots of congestion, drainage, cough, low grade fever (about 100-101), headache
DH quickly got symptoms...lots of drainage, cough, headache, fatigue, stomach troubles, maybe a little fever
Me next- headache, drainage, cough, fatigue...no fever, aches, stomach trouble (I was the least affected)
Other DD got drainage, fever, lots of coughing with occasional wheezing

Two of us went to the Dr. right away and he didn't even check for flu because we didn't have the traditional body aches. He gave us all antibiotics which did not help us AT ALL. He diagnosed Sinus Infections, but it came on so fast which is not at all like previous sinus issues I have had.

My point is that this flu (if it was flu!) did not act "normal". We ended up exposing my MIL to it when we thought it was a sinus infection and we were on antibiotics. She got very ill and I feel so guilty about it! She is recovering, but slowly...

This is exactly what our school nurse said last week that it usually starts with a headache. I stayed home from work today and tried to make an app. but they were booked solid so I got one for tomorrow. Whatever I have feels more severe than just a cold but not quite as bad as the regular seasonal flu. I spoke with a parent last week who's child had a confirmed case of swine flu and she said that it was not even half as bad as when her child had the flu last yr.
