What was your progression of symptoms?

I'm probably just being a hypochondriac :upsidedow, but I wonder if I might have H1N1. I have been tired for about 3-4 days and have taken to napping in the afternoon (I know, I have it rough). I get enough sleep at night, but by about 1:00 I feel like falling over *yawn*. I have had a light headache which seems to be getting worse and last night my nose started to run. I don't have a fever. Yet. Right now it just feels like I have a cold. I am taking Sudafed and Allegra and it seems to be keeping things at bay for now. My DD has also complained of the same symptoms.

Did your symptoms start out gradual or did you just wake up dog-sick?

I have not had H1N1, but that sounds like cold to me. Also, I take to naps and daytime sleepiness as we enter fall and winter.

3 of us have been home almost 2 weeks sick. We have not been tested but I think it is the flu. Yes it started slow. We have had sore throat, cough, aches, dizzy, major fatigue sleeping 12 -14 hours a day. Dh had high fever chills. Me & DD do not get fevers.

The Dr put us all on antibiotic in case of a secondary infection.

It sounds like what DD had last week. Started with being tired and a headache on Wednesday, then chills, fever, sore throat at about the same time Wednesday night, some dizziness and higher fever Thursday, Friday the cough really started in, Saturday she was feeling better and now is fine other then a slight lingering cough. Most people I have talked to say about the same thing. I am pretty sure she had H1N1 but didn't get her tested. The nurse at the Dr. office said it sounded a lot like what people were coming in with that were positive for A strain which is usually H1N1 now.

For my daughter, 11, it is high fever, body chills, backache, sleepiness, headache and cough. She had to take a test at the dr.'s office the other day which was some type of nose/throat thing (DH took her to the doctor since I was at work).
She also has broken out in hives the past 2 nights....but some Benadryl and an epsom salt bath makes it go away.

For me, it came on like a ton of bricks. I was a bit nauseous and had a headache during the day, but it wasn't bad. Later that evening, I was throwing up, constantly running to the bathroom, a really high temp. I went from feeling just a little not exactly 100% to close to one of the sickest I've felt in my life in a couple hours. I was really bad like that for about 2 or 3 days (not exactly sure, I slept through the days, pretty much), by the weekend I was feeling human again.

Last week my DD8 had a 104.5 temperature, headaches, and fatigue. I took her to the doctor who did a flu swab which came back positive for Type A nfluenza, which includes H1N1. However, my DD's symptoms never worsened and her fever broke in about 2 days. My DS and DW also caught this "bug" with milder symptoms than my DD. Hard to believe this was the flu, my wishful thinking is that this was indeed a mild case of H1N1 and that we now have immunity.

I live in a city that has been hit really hard with it, so I know many people who have tested positive for it or whose family members have tested positive.

There has not really been "typical" symptoms. Some thought they had a mild cold, but they tested positive for H1N1. Some had fever, some did not. Some threw up, while others did not. Some were only sick for a few days, others for a week or more. Some have sore throat and coughs, others do not.

My son has it right now, so I can at least tell you how his has progressed. He started off with a headache and fatigue during the school day this past Monday. That evening he started running a temp of about 100 degrees. Early yesterday morning, his temp was at about 104 and stayed that way pretty much all day, even with advil in his system. He had a continuous headache, chills, and aches. He threw up twice yesterday. He had no appetite, but was able to drink plenty of fluids. He has had slight nasal congestion, but so far no sore throat and no cough. He had a much better day today. Low grade to moderate fever most of the day with headache on and off. Thankfully no more throwing up.

Whatever you have, I hope you feel better soon!

I started on a

Tuesday (@ work) just feeling run down and truly fighting to stay awake from lunchtime through the rest of the day.

Wednesday (I had a personal day off) I felt okay-- but I didn't get up until noon and I'm usually up by 9am on days off. I also sneezed A LOT all day long and had a mild sore throat.

Thursday -- I went to work and lasted a 1/2 hr. The doctors I work for had me looked at...did a rapid flu-- it was positive (assumed H1N1)and sent me home. I didn't have a fever but I'd go from having really bad chills to sweating. I also was sick to my stomach, felt like I was swallowing glass, and lots of nasal congestion. *Started Tamiflu this morning.

Friday&Saturday-- Still lots of nasal congestion and a really bad cough. I was run right down and could barely get off the couch. Only I couldn't sleep because my cough was so bad that even cough syrup w/ codeine didn't help. Still no fever, but I still had a woozy stomach. **Then everytime I took a Tamiflu I had really bad runs.

Sunday-- Felt a bit more human. Run down but the cold symptoms seemed to just go away. I slept most of this day.

Monday-- Back to work. I felt 90%. Just more tired than usual by the end of the day.

Now my son (16) started a few days before me. He too never ran a fever, but had the really bad cough and nasal congestion. He slept 40 out of 48 hours and then seemed to be fine w/ just a residual cough. My coworker also started about the same time as my son-- she was very sick for almost a week. Neither of them were tested though, but it all happened in the same week.

From what we see at work....H1N1 seems to really not be typical. We are finding that most people only get a mild case. For the people we rapid flu test that are turning up positive...some have fevers others don't. Quite a few of them could be easily confused w/ just a run-of-the-mill cold.

I heard about this website on the radio today. It's supposed to help you determine if you should go to the dr or just stay at home.

I woke up with a headache and a backache. I tried to get my husband to take my son to school but he declined. I came home from dropping off DS and slept for the rest of the day. I probably had a fever but the thermometer was dead.

I was feeling not quite right, so I laid down and took nap. When I woke up, I had a fever of 103. It really wasnt a gradual thing, but more of like it hit with a ton of bricks. So, dog-sick. No warning at all.

A few days later I developed a horrendous cough that had lots of mucus (tmi!) that last a little over 2 weeks. Finally, my nose was stuffed up as well, and that happened about a week after the cough started. Total, I was sick for 3.5 weeks.

I don't think it's H1N1. Most of the people I've talked to that got it....it hit them like a ton of bricks really quickly. They all felt sick to their stomach and had the flu chills during their bouts.

However, my whole family (one at a time) got a horrid cold virus. It started with sore throat, then terrible headache, then running nose, and tiredness, and became a cough (from the nasal drip) and scratchy voice and continuing tiredness. It lasted for about a week or so. We only had a mild to no fever. My DD is the last one and is just on the tail end of it now.

Maybe you have a similar cold.
