I was curious as to when Chef Gordon contacts people about menu choices for Private Affair. Ours in Wednesday (day after tomorrow) and I haven't heard from him. We leave to go to HH tomorrow. Does he contact you at the resort once you check in? And what time does it start and finish? With it over at the beach house is it still while everything is open over there?

Thanks!
Kristen

We will be enjoying A Private Affair in a couple of hours. It is now held at the Beach House in Signals. The time is 6:30pm- after the snack bar is closed and all other activities are finished- although the pool is still open until 8pm.

Have you emailed Gordon- he is usually very prompt about getting back with people. After you check in, you can call 7-4166 from the room and you can speak with Gordon (or leave a message). He does need your menu choices in advance.

Have a great trip to HH! :)

Thanks Doc!

Hope your dinner is great...Let us know how the atmosphere is at Signals. I'm a little dissapointed that it isn't in the other space at the Beach House. Was I mistaken that it was in the lounge-y room there or has it been at Signals since moving out of the Grand villa? We'll have to take our kids and I don't think they'll be too entertained at Signals.

Kristen-
We just went to A Private Affair at the beginning of June and loved it. He set up our table for 9 so we all had a view of the ocean. Our kids did Kid's Night Out that night -it just worked out for us. They were detectives and actually came to the beach house to investigate. So, we got to see them and enjoy our meal at the same time.
I think he does the meal at Signals because of the cooking facilities and the view of the ocean. Have a great meal and tell Chef Gordon hello from the large group from Illinois.
Doc-
You are probably eating your delicious meal as I write this. We really enjoyed HH. My DD (6) said "This is the best vacation of my whole life". She tried to convince us to stay "just 2 more days". All the information you provide helped us out a lot. Thanks:cool:

The Surfman's Station has no kitchen facility available, but I'm sure your children are welcome to use that area while you enjoy dinner if needed.

The staff removes the unneeded tables from Signals and sets a nice candlelit table with linen tablecloth and napkins. Soft music is played and the table it situated to have an unobstructed view of the ocean from the table.

The meal was delicious, as always. We had the crabcake appetizer, lobster/shrimp/crab/fettuccini entre and creme brulee for dessert with the suggested wine pairings. Plan to be hungry for the meal, because you sure won't be afterwards.

We're having a great week here at HH and are looking forward to the fireworks on the 4th. We saw dolphin while swimming this morning and there have been sightings of a family (4 adults, 1 calf) of manatee in the marsh behind the lodge area.

We've seen dolphin feeding in the marsh and river otter swimming in the marsh in the past and hope to get a glimpse of the manatee this week.

We'll see Gordon again tomorrow morning on the Behind the Ears tour and will say Hi for you!

Enjoy!
