It depends, if the forecast is for all day gully washers, I have a long clear plastic rain coat with a hood I wear. If it is summer/fall and I know there is going to be afternoon showers, I'll usually carry one of those tiny umbrellas, mine comes in a cover and has a strap that I can hook onto belt loops if I have them, then when it gets wet it can go back in it's cover and not get me wet. I don't like walking around wet because I get cold easy and going in and out of the air condition really gets me, it gets me on a regular day, much less being wet. I always wear sandals that can get wet, I'm not a tennis shoe wearer so I just bring 3 or 4 pairs of sandals and switch out. If it's just a quick shower and I didn't bring anything in, we will either duck in a store or just walk around in it if its a light one. I have been known to buy a Disney poncho, I must own at least 10 of them. I tried the cheap throw away ones that would fit in a pocket and got wetter with one of those on than without and had a hard time keeping the thing down over my shorts so it wasn't worth it.
