For those who do laundry on vacation...

I don't use the dry stuff either but for vacation I do.

I like a few others pre measure it & put it in a zip lock bag. This way I just have to dump it & toss it.

I also ship it ahead of time with my box of goodies (diapers-OK not really a goodie!, snacks, etc..

One year I tried the liquid & I premeasured it since I didn't think to buy the smaller containers or maybe they didn't have those super small travel sized ones back then. Any ways, I premeasured the liquid, double bagged each premeasured bag & then put it in yet another bag & it still seeped out but into the larger zip lock bag.

Since then I just do powder for vacation.

Okay, since I'm totally not powder savvy, can I ask a few questions?

Do you let the powder dissolve in the water first?

Does it ever not rinse of the clothes properly, leaving white stains?

I've only used liquid, so any instructions you may gave me would be helpful to make a decision. Obviously powder would be easier to transport, that's for sure.:goodvibes

OK, I had to post because this worked so well for us. I think I probably read it on the DIS.

I used All Small and Mighty liquid. I figured out how many loads I'd be doing (10) on our two week trip. For each load, I poured one load's worth of liquid detergent into a cheap white wash cloth. I packed my 10 clothes in a zip-loc and pulled them out one at a time to use. It worked perfectly.

No spills possible and couldn't be cheaper.

Huh. I never would have thought of that. This is why I love the DIS, so many great ideas!:thumbsup2

I checked out the website and it seems great! does it clean well? how is the scent?

Works great! I don't remember much of a scent, mine are clear so probably the scent/dye free ones.

That washcloth idea is very clever.

We rent a house now that we are a family of five. So we do 1 or 2 loads of laundry a night. We have been using something that's hard to find, but when I find it I buy 2 or 3. It's called Oxy Clean Ball. It's a hard (powdery) ball the size of a soft ball and lasts the whole week thru. It packs great, and no worries about leaking! I don't know how it works, but it releases the amount of soap you need everytime you do laundry. By the end of the week, its pretty small and you can either toss, or bring home! We usually toss so we have more room! It's a pretty nifty idea, and perfect for traveling knowing you'll be doing laundry.

I always put them in an empty water bottle and then a ziplock baggie. Put it right into my luggage. I have never had any problems with it leaking. I do the same thing with my shampoos etc.
