Was the pre-RSVP guest count similar to your actual guest count? Do you think sending out pre-RSVPs is worth it?

Thanks! :goodvibes

faith,
my wedding is going to be different then yours since we are all having to travel quite a way to do the disney wedding. However, I decided not to do a Pre RSVP because we are only inviting people that we know will come now if for some crazy reason someone decides not to come that only lowers our guest count and we are ok with that. Another option I have is we do have backups we can invite in case that happens.

hope this helps

Teresa

When we did our Escape VR we sent out Pre-RSVPs to get an idea. Well, all 18 said they were coming (this was in October and our VR was in April.) They all talked for months as if they were going to come ("wouldn't miss it for the world" blah, blah :) then when we sent the actual invites, and only 4 of the 18 actually showed. Go figure!

I didn't sent out pre-RSVPs, but I can tell you that even the people who were all about coming a few months ago are now realizing they can't....and vice-versa.

I think it's hard for some folks when it's too far ahead. A lot of people's employment situations have changed, so 6 months ago maybe they could/couldn't, and things are very different for them now.

I am also finding people's knee-jerk reaction is to say they'll come, but once they actually start crunching numbers they see the reality and have to decline.

We did pre-RSVPs and they were a life saver!! With the exception of 1 they were right on. It got everyone to make their reservations early :) and gave us plenty of time to invite friends that were not on our initial list.

We sent out pre-rsvp's/std's about 5 1/5 months before the wedding (we got engaged only a few weeks before that). I sent out 110 invites and only about 20 people actually rsvp'd - and that included parents and siblings that I already knew were coming :lmao: 5 people gave me a solid no. So it didn't work for us. I also had a lot of people who told me they were definitely coming just in discussions end up telling me they couldn't make it at the deadline of my rsvp.

My daughter is getting married November 19th, and even with Pre-RSVPs, and then the RSVPs the numbers have fluctuate. We have been very frustrated with the lack of response to the actual RSVPs. We are having a sit down meal and needed to know the numbers to plan the food, tables, seating etc. I must say family has been the worst offenders. I guess we will see what happens the day of the wedding :sad2:.

Thanks everyone!!

I think we will skip the pre-RSVPs as they don't seem to be super reliable. :(
