For those that wear dresses to WDW

I usually don't wear anything under my dresses and I don't have a problem. I am pooh sized by the way. But two weekends ago I was in a sweltering gym for my niece’s graduation and really wished I had worn some so my thighs weren’t sweating on each other. All of us were sweating everywhere, but that was the only part of me that was bothered.

Well this weekend I was in Walmart and found a pair of gym shorts in plus size. They were lightweight and only about $6. Since it was 98 degrees and high humidity on Sunday I wore them with that same dress. They were wonderful. Very comfy and they did the trick. I’m going to head back and get a few more for my Disney trip!

I usually wear capri leggings with dresses. It's comfy and cute and completely takes away the issue of modesty getting on and off rides. Plus, I'm on the tall side and it removes the issue of dresses being too short (well, as long as they cover my butt, it's fine then).

I've been finding some really great dresses on Zulily.com this spring. I got a gorgeous cotton sundress for my vow renewal with nice thick straps (ivory, embroidered crinkle cotton with beads) and a nice, thick but cool knit maxi dress. The straps are braided but still thick enough for a bra strap.

I generally stick with dresses in the summer because it's cooler and it's more forgiving on sizing. My weight tends to fluctuate a lot, but it doesn't make as much difference in a dress as it does in pants.

I wore nothing but sundresses while we were at WDW in May...it was WONDERFUL. There were only a couple of rides I had any "problems" with - Space Mtn was a bit awkward to get into the front seat without flashing people (thankfully I had shorts on under). ToT, my dress wanted to fly up on the drops...a tad embarrassing.

I am not Pooh Sized, and I have not been to Disney lately, but last summer I did go to a smaller theme park while largely pregnant. Pants and shorts were no longer a comfortable option. On the rides that were safe for me to ride, I followed Kate Middleton's advice and swung out, knees firmly together. The only thing I found to be a hassle was on one ride I got much wetter than I intended. A wet dress = not too attractive or comfy. I would recommend maybe folding an extra one up and sticking it in your backpack.

There are the occasional days I choose to wear a dress in the parks (for example if we have a nice ADR planned, and I won't have time to change beforehand) - I ALWAYS wear shorts under my dresses, even when I'm at home. I'm not pooh size but I'm definitely not princess size either - for me, I just feel better with cotton bicycle shorts underneath.

You never know if wind may hit, or any other instances that may be un-lady like. I just like to be on the safe side.

I am trying to shrink my pooh size. This year I wore a dress from Old Navy. I went to Dicks and bought a pair of Under Armour bike shorts. They are suppose to help with wetness from sweating. They worked and didn't ride up my legs like other shorts do. They weren't cheap, but made my day in May very comfortable.

I also wear bike shorts under all of my dresses. I can't stand chafing and the deodorant trick doesn't seem to work for me. I bought bicycle shorts from Wal-Mart for $5 per pair and they work wonderfully!

I have decided to go with dresses and skirts for this trip too since it will be very warm in September. I have bought some golf skirts with the moisture wicking shorts built in. I too am not a skinny-minnie (size 9/10) or a twenty-something (I have 4 teen/tweens) but I have decided to go for comfort over style this year. :beach:

I would like some comfortable tops to go with the skirts that are cool-ish. Any suggestions? My polos look nice but just feel so thick/heavy and I don't want to melt. :rotfl:

I bought a few sleeveless blouses at KMart a few years back that are really cool. They're plaid, and made out of a seersucker-type material. They're like button-down shirts, without sleeves. They were only about $12 each, and they're cuter and less heavy than polo shirts. They were surprisingly well made (a surprise for a KMart item!) - they even had darts in the bustline, and fit really well (a challenge for me, since I have a larger-sized chest). Plus, the armholes don't gap and my bra straps don't show! A "win/win' overall!

like other posters have stated and me being a teen my self i love knee length dresses even thought i have lost a lot of weight it didnt disappear in my thighs and rubbing is no fun so the bike shorts of even tight fitting mens boxer like under wear without the pocket are a life saver and it keeps everything covered and i have 4 dresses packed for my upcoming trip:)

Compression shorts might be good since they are usually the wicking material and so absorb perspiration, dry quickly etc.

I always wear dresses to the parks. I too am Pooh sized. On our last trip, I only packed one pair of biker shorts and they were too, um, "used" to make it another day without being washed. I ended up wearing a clean pair of my husbands boxer/briefs. LOL! They worked better than the biker shorts and are a lot cheaper too. I actually prefer them:lmao:

I wear skirts all the time for modesty reasons, in the parks and in "real life." I don't really wear dresses because I usually have a nursing baby, and it's easier to nurse in a skirt and shirt. Anyway, I find that when I wear relatively narrow skirts (like A-line skirts, not pencil skirts) that go down to mid-calf, I don't have any problems getting in and out of rides. If I wear fuller skirts, then I do have to wear longer ones that go within a few inches of my ankles.

The only place I've ever had problems was Sum of All Thrills. That bumpy part that comes up in between your legs can be hard to work around. That's okay, though, because I hated it and don't want to go back on. :)

Wear a Hawaiian dress. No on will be able to see what you're wearing under it, they'll be too blinded by the dress. :cool1:
