So looks like DD is getting stuck with the trip again this year. Her only request is that she be able to see her (our) beloved Red Sox while down there. For at least several days of the trip, Tampa Bay is playing @ Boston. Would these games be televised on a local channel available on the resort tv? at the pool bar? at the Lounge at the Poly (I hope!!) someplace besides ESPN?

Sometimes the Rays games are on FSN down here, however the resort TV does not get this channel. I just looked at their schedule and it looks like some of the games are on ION. Not sure what channel that is, my guess is its some sort of Tampa station that again wont be on resort TV's. Sadly, I think the only place to see a game might be ESPN.

Have you considered taking a day trip to Tampa to see a game? If there is one at night, you could do the parks during the day and see the game at night? It would make for a late night back to Orlando, but it would be neat to see your team at another stadium. I am a diehard fan of the guys in pinstripes, and its always fun to see them in an opponets park

Your only option will be ESPN unless the game is televised on Fox, ABC, NBC, or CBS or ESPN itself. The Disney resorts don't even get TNT or USA.

I see you are going in September. If the Sox are in the playoff hunt (assuming Tampa isn't), ESPN can get crowded.

If you have the transportation, Tampa is about an hour and a half away. Our friends took in a game over there and really enjoyed it.

they are playing in Boston, not Tampa. Last year, when this same thing happened, the game was on at the pool bar (Pop Century) so I will cross my fingers and hope again. Thanks for the answers

The Rays do not play in Tampa. The team calls St Petersburg its home.

The Tampa Bay name is an ill-conceived plan to try to somehow tie St Petersburg on the west side of the body of water called Tampa Bay and the City of Tampa on the east.

It's worked so well that people not familiar with the area believe that the team actually plays in Tampa.
