I have a quick question and am looking for feedback....We are using DU for the first time for our trip in July. I was wondering if anyone has used Dreams to make their ADR's....how did it work out....did you get everything you wanted/needed?

We once had a travel agent offer to do this. To be honest it does not make sense. There is no real advantage to them doing it for you. Maybe getting up early to do it but who is to say they are really going to do that!

The time it will take you to contact them tell them your requests you could have called yourself. What if they can not get any of the days or times you want and it takes some creative planning to arrange things only you can decide. It is a travel agent not a concierge service so they do not have abilities to get you something you can not get yourself. So JMHO try doing it yourself.:)

As part of their 'dreamres' service (for offsite hotels, or the swan/dolphin)? Or for their disney resort bookings? I've used them for the swan once, and it was okay. I've also had agents book ADRs (from other agencies, though).

I think it is just easiest for me to call for myself. I can do it early when the window opens, and if something isn't available, I can work second and third choices in more easily than an agent. By the time you write all your instructions to the agent, you could have just called yourself. (And this from someone who is afraid of the telephone machine.)

I used them for my trip in January. They made my ADR's and then when I had to change dates to get the AP discount, they cancelled them and re-made them. Everything worked out great.

I have never made an ADR myself. I just don't have time to sit on the phone and do it all. My DU agent has taken care of all of them for me. I email her a list of what I want, and one or two alternate choices. I've gotten everything I asked for. She even notice that last year I tried to make an ADR for two nights after I left WDW! She got right back to me to see what date I really wanted.

thank you all for your responses....I have to sit and think about this.

My sole regret about buying DVC was that I could no longer e-mail a list of my dining plans to DU and then just wait for them to confirm everything. They did a great job as far as I was concerned.

While this is my first time using DU, I used a travel agent in the past, and she always got everything I wanted, including Le Cellier dinner AND CRT breakfast! While I have also made my own ADRs in the past, this time I plan to let me DU agent call. Their service so far has been outstanding. :worship: I'm not sure where people are coming from saying it's just as easy to do it themselves? :confused3 Besides having to get up at 6 am to try and call, possibly be on hold and pay for the call, it easily takes over a half hour to do all my reservations, give them all my info, etc. Why would I want to do that when someone else will do it for me? It takes me less than 5 minutes to email my agent my dining choices for what days...

I agree. I used DU several times before purchasing DVC and never had an issue with them making my ADRs. I've always gotten what I wanted when I wanted. A few summers ago, during a 4th of July picnic, my family decided that they wanted to add an extra table service to our trip with only a couple of weeks notice. I immediately sent an e-mail to my DU agent fron my cell phone and within an hour, I had an e-mail back from from her confirming my reservation that was within a half hour of the time I wanted. I was extremely impressed that she would set up an ADR for me on a holiday.

I used them for this may trip's ADR's, and got exactly what I wanted within 10 minutes. I will use her again for September, and I'll let her know probably late may before my window opens, so she knows, and can get them done exactly when the window opens up. She's been great!!!!

We are also going in July and this is our first time using Dreams. I was debating over whether I wanted to just hand it over which would be easier but I love planning and I actually just want to make them myself. It's part of the fun and when I call in the evenings it's usually not long waits. Of course, I'm not going to some of the places that you need to be up at dawn either. That I would hand off....;)

I am still having a tough time deciding which way to go on this subject. Do the ADR's myself or have the Dreams agent do it. My 90 day falls on a Sunday so I will be able to get to a phone to do it myself. I am sure they will have a lot more experience at doing it than I do. I am wanting some of the more popular places and I am worried about getting them at the times I want. For example CRT before the park opens. I guess I am just asking for some more stories on peoples experiences with having Dreams make the ADR's for you good or bad. Were they able to get what you wanted for the most part?

We have used DU for 4 of our trips (and are doing so again for our Free Dining trip) and I received great service. Our agent was always able to make ADR's around the time that we had requested (including CRT, the Fantasmic Dinner PKG ) and easily made changes for us when needed. I would provide alternates but she would be able to get our 1st choices and three of our trips were during Free Dining when ADR's were hard to come by. I enjoy planning and researching and I do all of that when I choose the restaurants, parks, touring etc.. but I don't have time to sit on the phone for ADR's especially when my TA will do it for me.:thumbsup2

We have used the same DU agent for all 7 of our WDW trips and have always been very satisfied with all the work she does for us. Only on our first trip, which was planned pretty last-minute, was she not able to get an ADR for us (CRT breakfast). Every other ADR, and there have been many, has worked out, although sometimes +/- up to 30 minutes (we're laid back about that, so it's never an issue).

ditto. :thumbsup2

I can't be sitting on the phone while trying to get my kids ready for school and constantly being interrupted with "mom!" I was nervous about using a TA the first time this trip, but after this experience I would trust one with my ADRs again.

Our DU agent was able to get everything we wanted this trip, including CRT and LeCellier. The only thing we didn't get was a Crystal Palace breakfast - only dinner was available on the day we want, which is fine. When Sci Fi was having issues with no openings showing in the system, I told her not to worry about but she kept trying anyway and snagged us a perfect adr. :goodvibes

My only complaint is having to wait until later in the day to hear the results. If your agent has ADRs to make for multiple people and other business/family to take care of, they may not be able to email you immediately. Having to wait just a few hours can be tough when you've been planning your dining for months. :rotfl:

I will never make my own ADRs!

My DU agent got everything I wanted when I wanted. I didn't have to get up early. I didn't have wait on hold forever. I didn't have to pay for the call.

I just emailed her a list of what I wanted:
Sat. 3/21 CRT Lunch - as early as possible
Mon. 3/23 'Ohana Dinner - around 8:00 pm
Fri. 3/27 CP Breakfast - as early as possible

It took less than 3 minutes.:goodvibes

Thanks everyone for your replies. You have made me feel better. It is the whole giving up control thing I think I am having issues with and I just need to get over it :upsidedow I think the waiting to hear back will probably be the worst part for me but I will give it a try.

I wrote earlier that I would make my own, but I forgot about the new 90 day window which was a Friday and I didn't have time to call. My TA booked all of my places within 5-15 minutes of what we asked plus booked a pirate cruise, segway tour and eventually I will have him book the Pirate League too. I wanted to do it myself but time wise I just couldn't and they make it so easy.
