I'm still not 100% sure about taking Molly-Ann (a week before her 2nd birthday)
For those of you that have taken a toddler - did you watch the shows? (day & evening) Not sure Molly will sit for that long!!.
What rides can/cant she go on (and I don’t mean the big ones!!). Things like pirates of the Caribbean/jungle cruse/its tough to be a bug etc?. Is there a site where I can find this info?

Thanks
Katy

Hi we took our daughter when she as been 2 ,3 and this time will be 4.
They seem to cope better than us parents.
Chelsea loved the parades and sat there mesmerized by all the lights and the characters!!
I must admit the most favourite thing of all is at downtown disney, the water area, where the water comes up from the floor? she loved this at 2 she would sit there for ages getting wet, as in june it was very warm.

This really depends on your child, what they're like with loud noises and the dark, etc. The first time we went our youngest was 2months short of 2 years old. She found a lot of the shows such as Its Tough To be A Bug, Honey I shrunk the audience, etc, too much, the dark and the noise was just too intense for her, so I had to leave with her. If you sit at the end of the aisle near the door this is not a problem. I also had to take her out of some shows such as Little Mermaid. Tarzan Rocks and Lion King shows she loved. The parades she was fine and loved them.

Last year she was just about to turn 4 and there were more rides she could go on (this was more due to being taller than to do with her age) but she still hated the 3D shows except the new Mickeys Philharmagic. I would say that time MGM probably had the least for her the first time around. However, there is still lots to do and see at every park for them at that age.

You should get the WDW planning video as this gives you an idea of what there is at each park (however I think they make some of the stuff look more scarey than it actually is and this can put the children off trying it). The best thing we found was the Brits Guide to WDW, this book gives a good description and a fairly accurate and honest rating for each ride.

Also don’t be surprised if she finds the characters a bit daunting as they can be frightening to a child that age and take a bit of getting used to.

I totally agree with Madjock in that it will vary very much from child to child, but we had lots of hesitations when taking DS for the first time (he is now 5, at the time was 2) but everything went smoothly. We will be taking DD who will be 8 months with us this April - and we aren't worried like we were the first time (except about the cruise not sure what that will be like with her!).

IMO with younger children it is a huge bonus staying in a Disney resort and being able to pop back for a break often without too much wasted time travelling. Specifically a Magic Kingdom monorail resort would be best as we will certainly spend most of our holiday time in MK with 2 young children. Also, don't forget to just take your time and let your daughter decide on the pace. We take our time slowly around the parks with lots of breaks and rests.

I think she should be fine with Jungle Cruise , not sure about PoC - our DS was scared of this first time round. Like Madjock said, it is ideal to sit on the aisles for the 3D/4D shows for easy exit incase your DD doesn't like it.

Richard. :)

When we went in 2000 DD was just 2 weeks off her 2nd birthday and DS was 3 - they had a great time and each time we go back there are different things for them to do and enjoy.

It depends who the holiday is for

if it is for you then there will be some things with a toddler that you can't do but then that goes with the territory of motherhood. if its for her then she should have a great time with plenty to keep her happy.
