For those planning a DL trip in OCT 08

I know theres been alot of talk about how busy or not busy DL is in October. So I did some research and most schools in Utah have their fall breaks scheduled for Oct 16-19 except for BYU who does not have a fall break. So plan accordingly if planning a DL trip in October. Our trip is scheduled for the 11-17 of Oct so hopefully will be gone before most of the Utahn's arrive. Im not holding my breath though.

Yep, I checked into that too. Which is why we're going the following week--22-26th. I love Halloween Time at DLR!!

I read about this on another site. They said the UEA conference stands for Utahns Escaping to Anaheim. I also noticed a poster from Utah who mentioned that his family was going in October. I think we will go the first week of October...

I'm planning a day trip or two during Oct. I've never in all my life seen the Fall decos up, so I'm looking forward to that. Thanks for the info about those dates. very helpful!

Thanks for the heads up because the 16-19 is what we had planned but now I know this, I will be changing the dates for sure. I wanted to go during this time bacause it was halloween time and I thought it might not be that busy. We went last December the second week, and there was soooo many people there and that for me just ruins all the magic. So thanks for the heads up!!!

FWIW, last year the day before Halloween was a Tuesday, and it was a perfect "off-season" day.

IIRC, Monday the 29th was a little more crowded, but not bad at all.

But you're talking about a Friday night and a Saturday.

They're usually very busy, anyway.

Last year's UEA was held October 29 and 30 (Mon. and Tues.) -- and IMO those two days weren't very busy.

I hate to break the bad news to you, but Monday October 13th is a school holiday in Utah as well, so like me, I am sure there are many Utah families that will just blow that Tuesday and Wednesday before the UEA break off and be there at the same time as you!

Really? The school district by us and my brother's school district are not taking the 13th off. Their break is the 16-20, though. As for people worried about in October, we have been then, and while it is sometimes more crowded than you would expect, it is nothing like summer or Christmas.

I just checked my kids school calendar for next year and the Alpine district (Utah County) is, or maybe it is a teacher prep day just for my kiddos elementary?

We were there October 9-13 '07. The place was a zoo, and as the week went on it just got more and more crowded. To the point where walking was not easy, it was a sea of people. Lines were just crazy. Never again for us. Those fall breakers really impacted the crowds! We've been there in July and didn't find it as crowded as that! It's just not the way we enjoy DL.

We'll do a November, December trip next time if we want to go during that time of year (staying away from holidays and winter break of course).

Which school/school district is off on the 13th? Ive checked with the alpine, Jordan, and Granite school districts and they all have school scheduled for that day. As well as all Universities.
