- what do you recommend?

DH and I will be eating dinner there in November and would like to have some idea of what to look for.

It seems you can order a la carte, but I thought I saw a prix fixe (sp?) menu as well. Was I mistaken? If not, would you recommend this option as the best way to sample different menu items?

What items from the menu do you prefer? I've heard (and read ;) ) that even though the food sounds exotic, it's really just different ways of preparing foods with which we may already be familiar. Is this generally true?

This is a surprise for DH - he doesn't know I made a PS here - and I want to make sure he'll find something he'll enjoy.

Thanks for any feedback!

Everything is yummy...

There is are 2 "Feasts" (can't recall the names) -- one has a little more food and variety than the other. My DW and I have never tried these. But here are some of our favs:

Beef Brewat Rolls -- scrumptious! minced beef in light flaky pasty sprinkled with cinnamon.

Soup (can't find the name) -- very delish! Not too spicy, but it has lentils and lamb in it.

Entrees: I've had the Chicken Kebobs (wonderful!) and the Seafood Platter (the salmon wasn't terrific, but good -- had better seafood elsewhere).

DW has has Chicken Coucous (she loves this dish); shish kabob (beef or steak?) which she pronounced very good.

This place seems to do chicken and beef dishes very well; they seem to have some trouble with seafood dishes (tend to be a little dry or overcooked).

My daughter and I always share one of the sampler (Sultan's, I think) platters. There is more than enough for two people. The food is very interesting sounding when you read the menu and it's very delicious when you eat it!

You can find menus at www.wdwig.com

We have had lunch and dinner there on different trips. It's just one of those restaurants that I think anything you choose would be good. :)
I know DH has had the Roast Lamb Meshoui, and I have had the Lemon Chicken.
Our first time we ordered mint (hot) tea and it was ssooooooo good. They laid a mint leaf in the bottom of a little cup and poured the hot tea over it. mmmmm
The second time we were anticipating this and they didn't use the ol' mint leaf in the cup.
The next time I will specifically ask for a mint leaf, if it is available! ;) Makes all the difference.

I second the chicken coucous. Hubby and I ate there 3 weeks ago and loved this restaurant. Enjoy.

Haven't been to Marrakesh but I eat Morrocan every chance I get, and my favorite is Bastilla, preferably chicken but I've seen it with seafood or fruit as well.

I've eaten off the menu and one of the Feasts (whichever doesn't feature seafood, my husband isn't a seafood guy).

We really enjoy it. The feast is a really good way to go, a lot of variety, multiple courses - and enough of everything that unless you discover you don't like Morroccan at all, you should leave satisfied. I think my husband and I will continue to do the feast in the future.

(They also do lamb well, but I agree, if you are looking for fish, there are better places).

(Morroccan wine was not to my liking - not a surprise since the country is predominately Muslim and alcohol is a no-no.)
