I have a question regarding asking for a refund if fares go lower with a flight you have schedueled with SW. First, for those of you who received credit card refunds or SW credit, does it have to be on the exact same flight that the price went lower through DING or anything else. I am asking because my flight now shows unavailable. So if I call will they say that the flight is full so no refund will be given. Also, does it have to be the exact flight, time ect and can you only do it once? Right now the flights are $10.00 cheaper than what I paid but not near as low as they could be. Should I wait because they will only do it once? TIA!

you can cancel and rebook on Southwest as many times as you want. Remember though that you will get a credit, not a refund. The $$$ goes into a ticketless travel fund that must be used within 1 year of the original booking. They can be used however you want though...doesn't have to be the same flights, date, or even the same person.

Instead of cancelling, go to the Travel Center and click change flight. This way your original booking won't be cancelled until your new one is booked. (so you don't have to worry about cancelling your flight and then not being able to get the new one.)

Last year I changed my reservation 3 times because lower fares kept coming out for the same flights!

Thanks for your reply. There was a previous discussion on this board that people are now asking and receiving credit card refunds not just credit for future travel.

But I was unsure if your idea will work though if a flight is full. I talked to Southwest and my flight is full, so I wasn't sure how I would be able to change my reservation with a full flight. I need the flight times with my flight so changing flights in my situation isn't an option. thanks!
