...and ordered a replica...which did you order? the wooden replica or the acrylic replica? and why?

i'm trying to decide between the wooden or acrylic replica...and can't decide.

is the replica engraved (regardless of wood or acrylic)? i'm trying to envision how it'll look like.

any help/input would be appreciated!

Hey there,

We order acrylic replica it looked better then the wood one. In my opinion it just looked better .It is engraved exactly what your stone will look like when its on the Disney property. When you receive its really tiny not what it looked like in the picture. Hope that helps you out

I got the acrylic replica for my bricks. I only did so because I thought it would look nicer and last longer. Really though either would probably outlive you! ;). The Acrylic replicas are not engraved rather they are etched on the back. They come with little wood bases too that you can use to stand up the brick. There is nothing on the wood bases though! :thumbsup2

I got the wood one. Thought it was more "timeless". It is engraved and quite darling.

Here's our brick

And here's our replica

Of course, you can't get the 50th anniversary brick anymore, but here is mine:

The dates on the bricks are the date of my kids first visit to Disneyland. Little over 5 weeks till Trevor gets his first trip!

We got the wooden replica and just like someone else above, we thought it was more timeless than the acrylic. It matches the base, which is nice too.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing, CrazyDuck! Where on Oahu? I'm originally from the north shore of oahu (as you can tell from my screen name...) :)

I took our last name and part of the coordinates off of it for the photo. I'm weird about putting my last name online. But I figured you could still get the basic idea. I took one photo with the flash and one without.

JaneJetson, i appreciate you posting these! i have a hard decision to make. :confused3 i think both look really great!

would you be able to post a pic of your wooden replica?

Oh, sorry. I see someone else has done theirs. Mine is still in hiding as it is a Valentine 2009 present for my family. I went with the mickey hands making a heart, put all of our first names on it, and then Feb. 14, 2009. I thought this was too cool since we are arriving for our next trip on Feb. 14, 2009.

I have not decided on the perfect way to surprise them with it yet!

no worries at all! what a wonderful surprise that will be!

I have two bricks but didn't get the replicas when I ordered them. Instead, I took a closeup photo of my brick then cut it out. Next, I had a friend cut out a piece of wood a little larger but the same shape as the brick photo and stain it. Then, I decoupaged the photo to the wood piece. Tada! I have my own replica!
