When I went to refill my prescription last week my pharmacist told me that the Singular would soon be a generic! I'm so glad. Because paying $42 a month is for the birds. LOL!!

:cheer2:

Thanks for the headsup. That's good news for us as well. DS uses Singulair year-round and this will knock our copay down from $40 to $6. Pretty substantial savings.:)

My aunt is through the roof with the news. We heard it on World News Tonight last night. She pays $80 a month on it, and cant afford it all the time.

That's great news. Thanks for sharing. Who would think I'd find out about this on disboards.

Great news. It requires a prior authorization and a high co-pay with my insurance.

I have to get prior authorization, and it is a $50 copay each month. I was so glad to see those patents expire!

SO glad to hear this! Both DSs use it, and without Rx insurance, it's $120/month, so my mom has been getting us extra on her order of it from a pharmacy in India. And today, DS says (after taking the Indian version for a year) that he doesn't think it works as well as the US version. And of course, I just got a 5-month supply from my mom yesterday.

Excellent news!!! My dr recently prescribed it for me but I have no insurance. It was gonna be $170 for 30 pills!! Wasn't gonna try it but if I can get a generic if would be worth it. (btw I already take allegra and zrytec everyday)

Our pharmacist just told us this at our last refill too. He said they were thinking the generic may be out in September!

that's great news, OP! thank you! singulair is awesome! i have to take it whenever i get bronchitis (once or twice a year, i have bad allergies and asthma), and it works really well for me.

My doc said it goes generic August 15th. I'm not sure how long it will take to be available in the pharmacy.

This is what drives me crazy with prescriptions. Everyone hear pays different amounts for this medication. Our insurance (Medco) gives this and proventil inhaler FREE. I get 3 months supply at a time for DS.

That's GREAT news! My mom and my daughter take it. It can get very pricey. We pay $48 a month, which I thought was awful till I read this thread. I can't believe what some of you have to pay. It's horrible!
