I thought I would share my recent experience. We traveled 1/23-1/25 from SNA-DLR and back. My 1-year-old grandson was with us so we needed to figure out RT to and from the airport- DLH. My dd brought her own carseat. On our trip from the airport to hotel, we got an Uber XL. The time was 8:30 AM, which is probably a prime time. The cost came to $45 for 4 of us + infant. On the return, we took a taxi parked outside the hotel. Much more room (van as opposed to SUV), easier to install carseat, and didn't have to call anyone. Cost was $40 flat rate. This was at 5:30 PM, also a prime time I would guess.

Just thought I'd mention that Uber is not always the cheaper choice. It has been for me in the past, but not this trip! They charged an extra $10 for bringing our carseat.

$10 for car seat? Is that a new rule? We will not uber next time if so. We have 2 car seats!

we have never used Uber , I'm happy paying the flat rate of $45. to and from ! crazy that they charge you extra for your car seat !!!

I don't know if this is always true or not; the problem with Uber is that I couldn't figure out ahead of time how much it would cost. I tried looking it up, but I got confused over how they would calculate our group and the time. Not to say it can't be done, just that I didn't understand the process. I doubt that boosters would be a big deal but our rear-facing carseat was a bit of a pain.

If you are staying at a resort hotel, they have flat-rate taxi vouchers for $40. If you're not staying at a resort hotel, you can still ask for one at the guest services desk or from one of the taxi drivers outside. It's still more than Uber or Lyft in most cases, but good for a larger group.

Taxi and Uber are usually both cheaper on the return to the airport than on the way to the hotel. Not sure why, since I assume it's the same distance. But, good to know about the car seat fee! I wonder why they do that?

I read about this once but I don't remember the reason. Has something to do with the airport regulations, maybe? I hadn't seen anything about the $10 fee when I was looking at Uber's policies (except for the Family Uber, which Anaheim doesn't offer) so it was a surprise to see that. Not a huge deal, but quite a bit more than we normally pay for Uber. Babies certainly change the dynamic of a trip to DLR :D

UberXL is always more than Uber - it's an SUV/Van vs sedan. I'm not sure why you would have been charged to bring your own car seat though, we've used it as recently as a couple weeks ago with 2 carseats and were not charged.
