I hope they come out, but if you are going to stay for a week. We booked 7 for 5 at the BC(4 people), which would calculate out to $170/nite($67.50/nite at a mod). I've never seen a code that good in the last 4 years. If it does come out better than that, we'll change our booking and stay longer. I expect $229+tax for deluxe(bc/yc/bw/poly) and $99+tax for mod. What's everyone else think?

tell me how you figured that, everyway i figure it, the code I got for room only at the BC comes out cheaper than the package does....i have figured every way possible and the package comes out more even with my having to purchase my 30 fts pass for me and my dh. I just priced (on the wdw website) a 7 night package and that comes out to 2233.26, and this is for a standard during value season. Divide that by 7 nights and it's around 319.00/night. Your way is only saying you are going to pay about 1190.00 for a week at BC. Something doesn't seem right.

Can you show me how you figured this out??? Interested to see how you got it so low.

Could it be that the OP has taken out the cost of the 5 day UPH passes? That would be aprox $277.00 per person, and would then come out to $160.00 to 170.00 for just the room depending on if it is value or regular season.

hulabird,

Do you have access to a room only discount code currently? Or are you referring to a code that you have used in the past? Is there anyone out there on the "inside" that has information on when/if codes will be coming out for September through the Fall? I just called this week and they didn't have anything besides the 7 for 5. I'm not really thrilled about that deal because it comes out to more because you are buying LOS park passes. We only need a 5 day pass at most, although we would stay longer at the resort and just goof off.

Yes, I have a room only code for 8/21-8/21 that I got through a postcard that had a pin #. And like I said in my other post, even with having to buy my own passes, I am coming out ahead by booking separately and not booking the package. Remember, the package deal is that you buy 5 nights at rack rate, for BC during value season, that is 289.00/night without tax. Then you get 2 nights free. What the OP is saying is that the 7/5 is cheaper than room only codes, but it's not. I may be better than paying straight rack, but if you can get a room only code or even an AP rate, you come out ahead of the package. I know because I was going to use the AP rate at first, and booked it. I compared the package to the AP rate room and added in my passes (and I am getting better passes than the UPH too) and I was STILL coming out cheaper than the 7/5. Believe me, if there is a way to go the cheapest route, I have always found it. (NOT that I'm cheap...lol) Right now I am paying (with the room only code, which incidentally was the exact same rate as the AP, only now I don't have to buy the AP) $2892.00 for 10 nights in a deluxe, including my 30 day passes for me and my DH and including taxes. The same deal with the 7/5 came out to 2233.36 for only 7 nights, plus add on 3 more nights at the room only code (sep. ressie) and you get a total of $2914.36, and only get 8 days of UPH. If I just went the straight package and didn't make a separate ressie using a code: $3338.44. No matter what way you look at it, the room only codes come out to be a better deal. I think I will definitely stick with the room only rate when I can get it.

hulabird;

here it is;

7/5 at bc $2855 for 4(2adults & 2teens) people in one room

$2855 - $1520(4-7/8 uph @ $380ea)= $1335

$1355/7=$190.71 - $19.67tax(11.5%) = $171.04/nite

and you can do the same thing for a mod @ $2047.

We always get the uph passes because we do water parks, PI, & at least a couple trips to DQ.

$171 is better than any code I've got in the last 6 years.
I wish I could've took advantage of the 7/4 last year. That would've calculated out to, I think, about $120/nite at the BC.

$2855 - $1520(4-7/8 uph @ $380ea)= $1335

I think this is where the confusion is. You are subtracting the cost of an 8 day UPH when you should be subtracting the price of a 6 day UPH ($311 * 4)

$2855 - $1244 = $1611

$1611/7 = $230

AFR,

No, we will be there for 7 nites and 8 days(7/8uph included in the $2855). If we used a code for 7 nites and purchased 4 7/8 uph, the cost would be as I indicated.

I think you may be confused, in that the 7/5 also includes the uph.
I am just reducing the room cost by what we save on the uph.

Thanks, but I do understand what the package includes - 7 nights/8 days for the price of 5nights/6 days.

Total price of package: $2855
Price that you are paying for UPH's: $1244 ($311 * 4)
Remainder: $2855 - $1244 = $1611
$1611/7 nights = $230/night

You can't figure the true cost of the room in the package when you are using an incorrect figure to calculate the cost of the UPHs. You are only paying for a 6 day UPH and receiving 2 days free. Why would you subtract the cost of an 8 day UPH?

Come on AFR, don't be such a "hammer head", what are you going to do with the $276 saved from the uph?

$276/7 = $39.42 Your $230-$39.42 = $190.58 - 11.5%tax = aprox $171/nite

All I know is, if there wasn't a 7/5 package, and we wanted to stay at the BC for 7 nites and 8 days, with 4 uphs, for a total of $2855, the room would have be $171.04/nite.

That is right Airforcerocks. I think you are figuring it correctly. The main thing with the package is that 5 nights are at rack rate, the only freebies you get are 2 nights of the room plus 3 days of UPH. The rest you pay for at reg. price. This is how Disney explained it to me.

When I called Disney to book, they went through every scenario with me and THEY even determined that the cheapest way was without the package. So I used the code they gave me. My bottom line is this: If I get the package and take the total amount and divide it by 10 nights, I am paying $333 (w/UPH) and some change per night, if I go with the room only code and buy my passes myself, I come out to $289.20 per night. A savings of $44/night.

I still don't see where the OP is getting this 170.00/night from. When I do the 7 night (value season) package it is 2233.36 which breaks down to $319/night including tickets. When I use the code I got for room only, it comes to 1589.00, I add on my passes for another 622.00 and my total is 2211.00, divide that by 7 days and passes and room =315/night. Not much cheaper than the package, but still cheaper plus I am getting better tickets than the UPH and more included on the tickets than UPH. If you really look at it, the package is just about the same price as using room only, but if you don't need UPH's, (maybe you have PHP's from another trip with days left), in that case, room only is hugely cheaper.

In my case, if I do the package for the 10 nights I am going, the package is a more expensive ($3338.44 v.s. $2892.00)

The way the OP made it sound when first posting was that his total comes out to $170.00/night, which is not true, his total per night is actually $407.xx when you break down the package cost.
This was where MY confusion came in. I was looking at the total package picture.

Are you all mathematically ignorant?

The 7/5 is a good deal(if your stay is for 7 nites and you like the uph). Not a great deal like the 7/4 last year, but still a good deal.

I hate to quote myself but please read.

"All I know is, if there wasn't a 7/5 package, and we wanted to stay at the BC for 7 nites and 8 days, with 4 uph passes, for a total of $2855, the room would have be $171.04/nite."

I don't think we're mathematically ignorant at all.

I called Disney when the package first came out, it wasn't explained to me the way you are trying to explain it. They explained that I would pay 5 nights at rack, plus 6 days of UPH at reg price, and they would give me 2 nights free at BWI and 3 days of UPH free. After going on my plans with tickets etc...they determined that I would be getting off cheaper using the room only code. They were right. Believe me if it were cheaper the other way, I would have switched to the package, and if it were all that great, it would be sold out by now and people wouldn't be hoping and praying for room-only codes. Remember, some people don't need passes, they may have PHP's left from a previous time and only need the room. If I didn't need passes, a room only would give me 7 nights for 1589.00.

You can look at it this way too, and then it makes airforcerocks calculations right. I am using value season to do this:

5 nights at BC at rack rate is $1611.15 (tax included)
On the WDW site, if you price the package for 7 nights, it comes to 2233.36. Take 2233.36-1611.15 and you have 622.21 left, which covers your UPH's for 6 days (this is for 2 adults). Take 1611.15 and divide by 7 and you get $230.00 night. Add on the two free nights of the resort and 3 free days of UPH. Remember when they price the package on the website, the 2 nights and 3 days of UPH are free, so that price you are getting is really for 5 nights of the resort and 6 days of the UPH. YOU BUY 5 and get 7. The price on the package is for 5 nights, they are just throwing in the 2 free nights and 3 UPH days. If you take the package total of 2233.36 and divide that by 7, it comes to about 407.xx per night including the UPH's.

It doesn't matter, I am getting the best deal for myself and that is all that matters. You are getting the best deal for yourself.

Another reason I am saving money is that I would rather have the 30 day FITS pass than the UPH, mostly because I get a free character breakfast for each ticket, unlimited usage of Disney Quest, free admission to the Kennedy Space Center and a few other nice perks including unlimited use of the water parks and the other 4 theme parks.

What it boils down to is that really the package kind of correlates with the rates for the AP and room only codes. You save bigger money if you don't need the UPH's. When I spoke with Disney, this is pretty much what they told me.

princess:

I love math problems like this. Now I am not sure about the price for AP at the BC but I think it is somewhere in the range of $240 including tax for a standard room. If that is not correct please adjust.

Priced seperately
7 nites @$240 = $1680
7/8 UPH @380 for 4 adults = $1520
total cost = $3200

7/5 package = $2855

So unless the price of the room with AP discounts is less then the $240 I used he is getting the package cheaper then seperate.

But to me I wouldn't say the room is $171 per nite sinply because it is really hard to seperate the cost of the room and UPH when you are quoted a package price.

Hulabird,

I apologize for the math statement, I should've been more specific about 4people vs. 2people.

For 2 people the 7/5 isn't as good, as a good discount code. All my calculation has been for 4 people. We've been going to wdw anually since 98(family of 4), and the only discount we've received for a uph is a DC discount.

The point I've tried to make is, with the 7/5 (for a family of 4 or 5), a room only discount won't be as good. I don't think there will be a better "room only" code, that will work better for our family.

Kathy, I like these math problems too.

$2855 - $1520(4 - 8 day uph) = $1335

divide $1335 by 7 nites, comes to $190.71 (tax included)per nite. at 11.5%tax the price per nite, would be $171.04.

$171.04 * 11.5% = $19.67
$171.04 + $19.67 = $190.71(tax included)

With an AP discount you wouldn't buy a UPH, you already have your passes.

All I've been doing is reducing my room cost buy the amount I've saved on our 4-Ultimate Park Hopper passes.

I can't figure it any other way, 4 people using uph's.

Sorry, i thought you had the postcard rate, it turns out it was Hulabud. It was easier for me to type AP than post card rate. I understand they are about the same price. Obviously if you had AP's you would not be buying UPHs. I gotta stop being so lazy and type out exactly what I mean.LOL

10drum--

Like I said, for you it may be cheaper that way, but for alot of us, it is not. For me, I like the 30 day FITS pass much better than the UPH because you get so much more for practically the same price.
My 30 day for adults is $311.00 including tax. I think that is pretty hard to beat.

What season are you going in? If you were going in value season on a room only, your room for 7 nights, including tax would be $1589.00. If you used passes like I am for 4 people it would be (assuming your kids are in adult tickets) 1259.00 including shipping, for a total of $2848.00. Just about what you are paying now, a few bucks cheaper. So as you can see, the room only actually correlates to the package. This is why, none of us think your room is $170.00/night, I think it is more like 230.00/night, close to what the room only and AP rate is. Disney themselves told me this. When I saw your OP, I was like, what???? What did I miss? But i missed nothing, I called Disney and they told me how it works.
