For those happily childfree, what types of things do you and your significant other/spouse love to do together?

I'm happily married and childfree by choice. DH and I love our lifestyle and love the fact we can spend quality time together. Like we love going to the movies on the weekend, going to the park, going out to eat, we even grocery shopping together and my favorite (being able to travel whenever we want and wherever we want) :thumbsup2

Travel is a big one for DH and I. We golf (I am not going to be a golf widow) and snow ski. (Knees are getting a little rough for skiing). We have date night once a week. We like to go to baseball and football games. We have been to 7 baseball stadiums for games around the country and 3 football stadiums. We love to do cruises. DCL of course. Tomorrow we leave for WDW and then VB. We are only a slave to our work schedules, nothing else. That makes for a great lifestyle. Well, we do have to let the dog out and feed him. :rotfl2:

We take a lot of weekend trips to roots music festivals, WDW, and the beach. Our area has a great music scene and we like to go to clubs and listen to live music. We have even discovered a private club way, way out in the sticks where we can hear live bluegrass once a month! Yup, a gentleman has converted his barn into a bluegrass venue, absolutely free of charge, just bring a covered dish. :sunny: It's incredibly AUTHENTIC and you get the feeling you could be pickin' and grinnin' in the 1950s rural South.

We also like to kayak the gorgeous fresh- and saltwater rivers of Florida, go to movies, and eat out. We have a great time together!

We're not actually childfree by choice (not happy about it either) but life goes on and we figure we might as well accept our fate.

That being said...we love to spend as much time together as we can. We love going to the movies, out to eat, and we're both into our hobbies - namely arts & crafts. Dh cuts wood for me to paint, and we also try to do a couple of craft shows a year (hopefully one day we'll be able to do more shows).

As for travel...we have my elderly father living with us so when we can make plans for him to stay at an assisted living place for a while - we're at Disney. (Our first trip was this past May, our next trip is scheduled for this December and we'll be back in May '07). Being an only child isn't great when you have to take care of a parent, but I'm so glad we found an assisted living place that does respite care! If we didn't have Dad with us we'd probably travel alot more.

Also, alot of our time is spent playing with our cat and dog. They are our kids! :) :dogdance: :cat: paw: paw: paw: paw:

I think the key to a happy marriage (with kids or no kids) is that you find something in common and go with it, plus giving each other their own space. But most of all you got to love each other.

just my 2 cents. :)

I love the days when we can DO NOTHING...I mean just laze around, watch movies, and not have to worry about anyone's "schedule"...except Winnie, our bulldog, of course.

We work hard, especially DH, so our free time is often spent at home doing "nothing" - like watching football all day Sunday or walking over to the movie theater and seeing a show. We're restless though, and can't do that for long, so we have season tickets to our local Arena League football franchise and go out to dinner a lot.

We also travel a LOT, which is great. DH travels for work and I often tag along, but we also go for leisure trips several times a year. In this next year alone we have a lot going on. In October we have a trip back to London and another back to Orlando. In December we'll be visiting Tokyo (first time for both) and Hong Kong (return for DH, first time for me) - along with the Disney parks in both cities, of course. In January we have a weekend in Vegas (I cover CES for our newspaper site). We will likely be living in London for about six weeks in the spring, then we return to Orlando again in May. Finally next August we're going on our third cruise to Alaska on Holland America (and as a surprise, taking extended family with us). So we'll be busy (and paying our pet sitter some serious $$$)!

We both work hard and have long commutes. I love the fact that we have the freedom to do what we want on a whim. The other night I had to work a little late and we decided to just meet for dinner at a little restaurant on my way home. It was great.

We travel to WDW in the spring or fall (no worries about taking kids out of school), and since almost all of our friends are cheerfully childfree as well, we do tons of entertaining year round.

We are cheerfully child-free as well! We like to travel, and we very much enjoy the freedom to be able to pack up and take off whenever and wherever we please. Most recently we took a road trip down to Mohegan Sun/Foxwoods in CT as we both enjoy gambling. We both love to go to Vegas. Someday I hope to get him to Disney.

Generally speaking though, we just enjoy hanging out together.

Hope you had better luck at Mohegan Sun than we usually do!!! (we are in Western Mass). We really enjoy going there, even if we usually loose our $$!

DH & I are big hockey & baseball fans (Go Twins!). We spend most of the year either at minor leauge games, Red Sox & Bruins game, or watching the big boys on the TV.

Actually luck was on our side as far as gambling. Didn't have quite as much luck with the Maine State Troopers  ; my boyfriend has a heavy foot!

We go to the movies, eat out and travel. It's a great feeling to know that you can pick up and go on the weekend without having to tote a whole mess of stuff around with you. We also go to WDW two times a year and it's great. We can eat where we want and when we want, do things that we can do without involving kids. The best? Not having to go anywhere near Toontown if we don't want! :-) :yay:
