We went to WDW last December and took 6 WDW "rookies" with us. This time last year, I was busy preparing info packets for them, a weekly newsletter, and planning our vacation. Time seemed to fly by and before we knew it, we were in WDW! :goodvibes

Now, it's just DH and I and our 2 DDs (ages 2 and 4). There's no need for a newsletter or info packets because we've been there, done that, and we're going back! :cool1: So, what do I do now? :confused3 Our planning is pretty much done, we're eBaying our way to Disney, and we're very excited about going. What are you doing "Disney" wise to pass the time? For example, are you having a Disney movie night? Watching the planning DVDs? Counting down the days on a calendar? Please share your ideas: December seems so far away! :(

Thanks! :teeth:

I HEAR YOU!!!

We just got back and are feeling massive withdrawal. And it depresses me to see my counter say "6 months" instead of the "14 days" we just had a little while ago.

That said...we love to go up to the Disney Store at the Mall of America to get a little fix. It's a 60 minute drive so we call it a one day mini vacation. We also have Disney movie nights, hit the DIS boards, and check around for any Disney on Ice shows that come to cities around us. We've seen Toy Story, Toy Story II, Beauty and the Beast...check Ticketmaster. The tickets are usually $12 each for great seats (honest!) and you can really get your fix. Mickey and the gang always lead off the show and that really makes me feel like we're in WDW.

Cirque is also coming here - the show is Corteo, not La Nouba obviously - but the tickets are much less and we thought this might be a nice way to pretend.

And you know what? Why don't you plan plan plan for your family? I have my PS spreadsheet where I detail out where we'll eat and what we'll do. What night do we do MVMCP? And where will we eat? What night is Osborne Lights? When is the Chef Mickey's breakfast? And then in August when 90 days hits...I make my daily calls and reworks everything. I always overplan and then we scrap 60% of it, but the pleasure I get out of the planning is worth everything.

And know that there is a family in Wisconsin who is counting the days just as closely as you are. :goodvibes

We aren't going until December either, and I'm pretty much done with all the planning I can do now. We have our resort reservatins, dining plan, etc., all our PS our pretty much planned out, our tickets are ordered for MVMCP and we have our PS for LTT that night.......

Nothing to do now but wait! And spend time on the DIS...

Steph

We're going in December. It'll be DS's first trip and we're also bringing my mom who hasn't been since I was in 5th grade! For christmas, we made her a countdown calender...each day has the date, how many days until the trip, and then a useful tip/trivia/etc on it. We started out counting down at over 400 days so I collected a lot of tips! A lot of my tips come from the Walt Disney World Trivia Book..written by a DISer! The book and website were lots of help! If anyone is interested in my calender, I saved it all in word. Just PM me!

I know the feeling :hourglass I must be crazy here in vermont the snow has just left and I hate snow and now all I can do is count the days until December when I would ususally be dreading the return of winter :sunny: So times to pass the time I plan future trips I price resorts and room options and other activities we haven't tried yet... :disrocks: a great way to pass the time.

We finally have less than 200 days to go until our December trip  and we can't wait. We watch the planning video from last year at least once a week (we don't care for this year's version :sad2: )

I feel bad in wishing the summer away as I can't wait for December to get here :earboy2:

I read my Passporter, the DIS and Tour Guide Mike almost daily plus I read my WDW trivia book to learn new interesting facts. Once the summer is over I think I will begin to watch my Disney DVD collection a lot more just to get in the mood. I like the calander idea though.

I love these boards - it makes my heart sing to know there are people out there just like us!

Wisconsin winter seems to take forever, but I am counting the days!!

slk537... as you can see I'm from Wisconsin too. What part do you live in? I hadn't heard that Cirque is coming. Could you give me some of the details like where and when? :goodvibes I would really appreciate it. We are hoping to go in December this year too. Love MVMCP! Missed it the last couple of years because we went in November. This year it will be the Osborne Lights and Christmas with Mickey!

We're going in December too! It will be the first trip for ds5, but we have not told him yet because it is so far away. But we are watching Disney movies and reading the stories so he will be very familiar with all of them. As for me, I hit the DIS boards about every day!! :cool1: It's good to know others are watching the calendar like I am!!!

SkipperBubba pirate: and I will be leaving for WL Dec. 5. We're pretty much looking at each other every day and saying, "Is it time to go yet?" Gonna be a long six months.
Oh well. We just got this year's planning DVD and a Cruise Line DVD to help keep us occupied, and we've always got our Passporter and these wonderful boards to pass the time pleasantly. As an added bonus, we were at a friend's wedding today, sprinkling pixie dust as usual, and we think we've talked some other friends into planning a December '06 trip with us. So we can start obsessing about that!
I haven't popped a Disney movie in the VCR/DVD for a while, though, and perhaps it's time for one. Thanks for the suggestion.
Good luck waiting, fellow sufferers! We'll see you all there, and, until then, here.
Cheers,
Q

toystoryduo ... i love it! what kinds of things did you put in your newsletters?! My DH and I are taking my parents at sister (12) this Christmas and I am DYING for ideas like this! Currently we do a Disney Movie Sunday every other week and a Trivia question (via email) each Monday. I would love more ideas like this! What fun!

I love coming to these boards and having people like me who can relate. We are a family of 11 going in December. I have pretty much everything planned out too, last thing to do is call for PS's. This time I am making a fun little booklet with all out info in it. In word I have put together everything and when I have all PS's done and all other details, I am going to take it to kinkos have copies made and have it spiral bound. I included all the details, even little info they give about each restaurant. I am having a lot of fun putting it all together.

We also obsessed this year about lanyards and matching tees for everyone. This is still on ongoing process as well.

The trip sounds so far away, but it will be here before we know it!

I am just doing lots and lots of research. This is our first time to WDW so I am overwhelmed by the amount of stuff to accomplish in our short time frame.

loving your ideas! i am going to do the newsletter thing for our group of 8 in my family.

we get together and watch planning videos etc. and next week we are going to see the disney musical "on the record" that is all disney music!

we also are constantly changing and updating our itenerary for early december. we aren't going to know what to do once it is over.

I'm having the same problem, but I can't even share my excitement with the family!
We are leaving on the kid's last day of school before Christmas break and they don't know about it yet.
It's the families Christmas gift, and we will tell them on the way to the airport!

So I can't even be excited around the house.
My wife and I are making plans in secret and I do alot of planning at the office but WOW this is tough!!
