Everytime you are on vacation you get your period?

Is it just me or what? Last two WDW vacations I've had it. DH says "Let's go for our Anniversary in October" ummmm guess what? I figured it out and I'll have it then too!

There has gotta be a way to change my system . . .

It will change in time and you will never have to worry about it.

There is. Go to your obgyn and tell him you don't want it on such and such week. They will put you on birthcontrol pill that does not skip a week. You may have to do this a month in advance. There are forms of bc where you never get youir period.

Wish Upon A Star - this happens to me almost every single time. I was blessed with it for our trip to Hilton Head in June and our WDW earlier this month. Same thing last year when we went to WDW and Boston for our 10th anniversary. I swear I would have had it on my honeymoon as well if I hadn't already been pregnant! Since DH had a vasectomy there is no need for me to be on BC. I just need to learn to plan my vacations better I guess or figure out how to go through menopause at 32!

I'm dreading it. I'll have it on my honeymoon :( I thought about getting on the pill and skipping the last week pills to reset my schedule but I've had such adverse reactions to the pill in the past I'm hesitant to use them again.

Disneymoon04- I was like you, I had problems in the past with the pill. But last year we were going on a cruise and there was no way I was going to have my period on that trip. I went to my ob/gyn and he put me on a very low dose. Now, I go every 3 months without a period. You might want to give it a try, the new pills are better than the ones just a few years ago. I was thinking about going off of them, but I like not having to worry about timing.

I was just thinking about this since I did not want to have my period on our upcoming trip! Fortunately, I finished this months cycle about 33 days prior to the trip, and I am pretty regular. So I should be good to go, finishing up again right before we leave. Yippee, one less thing to pack!

It never fails for me either.:( Since I started this whole perimenopause thing, I never know when the heck the stupid thing is going to show up - there's absolutely no pattern anymore. Sometimes I get it for 2 solid weeks, sometimes barely at all. And I'm only 38!

That is one thing I haven't had to worry about in the last 13 years. I guess that is the one good thing about having ovarian cancer at an early age (33).

Had it on our trip at Thanksgiving, our trip Memorial Day weekend, will have it for our trip in August and haven't checked yet for November but what are my chances....lol.

Disneymoon04...

I was like you and could not tolerate any kind of bc. My doc had me try Loestrin (generic is microgestin). It has the lowest dose of estrogen and I can tolerate it pretty well. Since I went back on it after having DD, I have a period everyonce in a while and even then, it is really, really light. Since you have so much time before your wedding/honeymoon, I would ask your OB what she thinks.

I won't push the issue of going on the 2004 Christmas Cruise for 10 days! I would probably attract all the Sharks!LOL

I am not paying that kind of money only to be miserable.

I can hardly wait for menopause!

There is a form of BC called Depo provera. You get a shot every 3 months and then you don't have to worry about it. In my case, and many others, You don't have a period AT ALL!!! I started getting the shot about 6 weeks after my daughter was born and haven't had a period since (she just turned 5). I recently went off of it ( due to other health factors) and started the Patch. I am so looking forward to having a period after almost 6 years   I hope everyone caught the sarcasism there!!! With the shot you don't have P.M.S. cramps, etc.

I feel for you Wish Upon A Star! I always consider it Mother's Nature's way of telling me to not have too much fun while on vacation.

Have you tried Yasmin? I'm taking it right now (even though my tubes are tied, I've been having a bout of re-adolescence:eek: ). I like it (I've been on it a month and it's helped me lose 10 pounds so far too!). A girl I work with is starting to take it. She's had a lot of problems with bc of most forms, even certain pills. Yasmin is a different kind of bc pill.:)

YES!

I thought this only happened to me! We are going on vacation in early Sept. and I counted things out and it looks like I MIGHT be lucky and get it before the vacation arrives. However, my body has been known to work against me in times like this...

Weird, eh? :) Sorry to hear I'm not the only one this happens too. What a yucky way to vacation! :(

Mine should start while I'm on the plane. I thought about talking to my Dr. about adjusting my pills so I wouldn't have to deal with it, but my body finally adjusted to the ones I'm on. I'm finally on a regular cycle for the first time in my life. It shouldn't be too bad. Three days out of seven. I think I'll live. Plus I'll be at Disney.

You are not alone...I am about to go on a road trip with my three daughters, and I am do tomorrow  great timing huh??? Browneyes you made me lol with this statement...

:) :) :) :)

It never fails. Our last 2 trips to WDW I had it & a few weeks ago we went to the shore for a week and I had it. When I was planning my wedding my mom said "Your the only person I know who picked her wedding date according to her period date." I'll bet I'm not the only one. :D

Thanks for the tips everyone! I was on Ortho TriCyclen before... maybe I'll ask about something with a lower dose. :)

I think something happens to make sure that Aunt Flo comes on every vacation. Now all of a sudden I can't even count on the counts because I am not on a schedule anymore it seems. I am a week and a half early or late so who knows when I will be expecting Aunt Flo. I thought of counting for our vacation in Jan. but who knows..
